Because of this I am big busted (hence the straps) and small waisted, and my weight tends to fluctuate.

I say corset!  I’m the same way and LOVE LOVE LOVE my corset.

I always wanted a corset but ended up picking a dress with a zipper.  If the dress is already made with a zip, it may be virtually impossible to make an accurate corset.  I’d say leave it alone.

Stick with the zipper, I don’t think it will fit or look right on that dress if you add the corset

I would normally go for corset, but the way your dress is, I don’t think a corset would look right on it. Stick with the zipper!

I agree with the other PPs that a corset back would look strange with this dress’s design. The materail is very high waisted and flowy and I thnk looks great with the zip. DO they have any examples to show you of what a corset back would look like? I also agree that if you are worried about keeping the girls in/fluctuating weight invest in a nice corset to wear under the dress. You can get used to wearing it before the wedding so that it wont be super uncomfortable the day of the wedding.

@curlywurly88:  If you’re wearing a corset underneath I see no reason to add another to the dress itself!

@curlywurly88:  Oh, I thought it was already made and that was your dress.  If you want to wear a steel boned corset under your dress, then you definitely don’t want a corset lace back.  The two sets of boning would conflict with each other and be verrrry uncomfortable.  It also may not line up right and it could look weird.  Go with the zipper.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

I woud keep the zipper and wear a corset underneath. I think the corset would cause the dress to lose it’s shape and design.

Zip for sure, I don’t think the corset would look good with that dress. Have it altered to fit you perfectly shortly before your wedding and you should be good!

@curlywurly88:  I for one LOVE corset, and have one myself. And I understand your reasonsing for wanting one, but I think they for this particular style, the zip up is best. Many dresses have the ability to have the sides let out if needed, so this is option too if you need it. At the end of the day, though, if you like one more over the other, go for it! : )

my dress is orginally designed with a zip, but I got the designer to do a corset for me instead. SUCH A GOOD IDEA. The corset will fit to you (unless its multiple sizes too big/small) whereas the zipper has to be perfect. I have a large chest and am very curvy – corset was the perfect choice for me. Even the seamstress thought the dress was better with the corset. BUT it’s up to you ๐Ÿ™‚
