Corsets leave room for the last 10 lbs (+ or -)!  Haven’t purchased a dress yet, but have a feeling it’ll be a corset.

I think corsets kind of look like the bride’s underwear is showing, so I am not a fan.  However, as Subie said, they are more forgiving of changing shapes.

Have you chosen a dress yet?  I think they make them fit so they don’t fall down, plus with boning you’ll be set.

I had a zipper dress.  I really, really wish I would have bought a corset dress.  It “gives” when it comes to small weight fluctuations.

I’m not a fan of corsets on the outside.  It makes the dress look too costumy to me.  My dress had a corset built in on the inside so it didn’t move an inch.  On the outside I had a hidden zipper with buttons all the way down.

I LOVE my corset back dress, I usually have an issue with tube tops because I’m kind of an inbetween size when it comes to bras, so the ones with built-in-cups don’t stay up (either cause my boobs are pusing it down because they are too big, or because the bra is too big and it slides down) my corset made me feel confident that my dress would not move.. When I went for my fitting, I moved and grooved and sat and stood and stooped and even faked a toss and my dress did not budge!

EDT: I agree the hidden corset is a good idea, but I like the look of a corset, also, if you are getting a corset (hidden or not) make sure you have it done up to comfort level, wait 10 minutes and tighten it, the fabric will warm up to your body tempature and will loosten (sorry I can’t spell today).. Anyway, here is a picture of the back of my dress corsetted, I don’t think it looks costumey, but again that may be because I REALLY look the like of a corset

I love corset backs, they are super comfy and like PPs said, it allows for any fluctuation in weight. Here’s mine:

im not a fan of the corset on the outside either, i prefer the buttons although i must admit they are a PITA to get on, (crochet needle comes in handy), but my dress is a zipper and i absolutely ADORE it

I personally don’t care for corset backs so I voted for zipper.

I have D cups and wore a strapless dress with a zipper (a pretty heavy dress) and it stayed up no problem because it fit me right.  I don’t know why people think that it is standard to have a strapless dress fall off.  Get it professionally fitted and wear the right bra.

A dress with a zipper will not “fall off” if it’s properly fitted. Mine has straps that fasten around me underneath the dress to support the weight of the dress.  Your seamstress also should have a few tricks up her sleeve to help you out.  I am one of those that feels like a corset dress looks like your underwear is showing– I just didn’t think it was appropriate for a church wedding, didn’t want to have to mess with being laced in and out of it every time I have a fitting, and I love the look of the buttons or buttons-over-the-zipper in back instead.
