You can probably do this either way. Are you wanting the corset for the effect it has on your figure, or for the look of a lace-up back? That will determine how you’d incorporate the corset. It’ll likely be cheaper to add it underneath the dress, but again, it’s about what look you’re going for. 🙂

My dress had a corset back and I loved it because it made the dress fit me like a glove without alterations. However, I know not everyone likes that style, so it’s really up to you!

If you bought the dress and have it in your posession already, adding a corset underneath the dress would probably be cheapest, fastest and easiest. If you’re ordering your dress, many designers will swap out zip for a corset dress (Such was the case with my own.)

I’m considering getting a corset back too because I bought a dress that’s a tad too small 🙂 The seamstress I talked to said it would cost around $250 to take out the zipper and put in the lace-up back, and I think she’s on the reasonable side. This is in NYC, by the way.

 

Are you just looking for a corset back though? It will be more if you decide to get the bones stitched in too.
