I’ve never seen that done before, but I think the sash might cut the corset in half which is why it isn’t normally done. Why don’t you use black ribbon to lace up the back instead?

My dress has a sash and a corset back. Here is a picture, its kind of hard to see because its white but I think you could get the sash sewn to your dress and end at the start of the corset just as mine does.

Hope it helps.

I have never seen it done, but if thats what you want go for it. I dont think it would be to much different than putting a sash on any other kind of dress. If you are worried about still seeing the corset back, why not sew the sash into the dress and have it break where the corset is..

Not the best picture but here’s my corset back dress with a sash tied behind it.  Sure, they tucked the bow and ribbons of the corset back into the dress, but IMO it looks kind of ridiculous to have the sash bow on top of the corset.

If you choose to go sash, and a black one at that, I would HIGHLY suggest you just get the darn thing sewn on to your dress so you don’t have a bow.

ETA: I’m not getting this sash, and I’m sewing the one I do get to my dress.  πŸ˜‰

I always see the sash sewn into the dress when there is a corset, that way it doesn’t cut it in half.

i’ve seen lots of people do it! i’m one of them, too! (though my sash is ivory, not black…) i think the key to it looking right is the corset not being too “wide” or “open” in the back where the sash will cut across… if the corset has narrowed pretty significantly by then, it looks great! πŸ™‚ i don’t have any photos yet because my corset is being altered, but hopefully some of the bees will post pics of their dresses because i’ve seen it on here a fair deal! πŸ™‚

I am having a corset put into my dress and it also has a sash. I am fixing the problem, by having the corset strings hidden and tied on the inside of the dress. Since my sash is angled, it will hide the bottom of the corset.
