I’ll bite…

What kind of packaging do you LOVE & what packaging do you DISLIKE?

For a random line like yours that clearly isn’t luxury, I say simple is best. MAC type with a doe foot applicator would definitely be preferred. Squeeze tubes are gross. Limit the colors, designs, etc. I think sleek and functional would be best.

Do you like thick/tacky/sticky formulas or nonsticky formulas?

I don’t care. I know many people dislike tacky/sticky because of the hair issue but I personally prefer something with some staying power.

Do you like sheer, medium or super opaque color in your lip glosses?

Depends on the color. Over all for a lip gloss I would expect semi-opaque or pretty sheer. I would expect opaque if it was a lip laquer.

What is a lip gloss you tried and absolutely HATED? (Brand and shade if possible)

Most don’t impress me.

What is your HOLY GRAIL favorite lip glosses? (brand and shade if possible)

I like the Chanel glossimers, a couple MAC- the lustreglass or cremesheen glass are nice, the buxom are good too- white russian is a favorite.

EDIT: I should also say, I am a bit of a makeup snob. I spend far too much on make up. I would rather spend $34 for a YSL lip product than one of the several indie brands. So I am probably not your intended demographic.

I like nonsticky, sheer, and a hint of shimmer.  My favorite is Korres Cherry Lipgloss in golden pink http://www.korresusa.com/default.aspx?page_id=348

I was gifted one from Victoria’s Secret and I hated it – too thick, super sticky, and didn’t stay on long.  Felt cheap.

I really don’t lIke lip gloss but I do like opaque lip formulas. I mostly like a matte lipstick but sometimes I like to add a sheer(ish) non-sticky gloss on top. I have bought and liked Dose of Colors gloss. I also like the gloss type applicators that dry to a matte lipstick type look like Kat Von D or Stila.

Lately I’ve been really into stain glosses- nothing sticky or super goopy, but something smooth, soft, and gives great color.  I like it to look glossy, not shiny.

I prefer to use something that will have some benefit for my lips- if the formula dries my lips out or makes my lips flake I won’t use it again.  The less ingredients, the more likely I am to buy it.

I really like the YSL stain glosses but wish they were a bit more conditioning.  I also really like Byte BB sheer lip color.

I do not like MAC lipglass (great colors, way too sticky) and I am also not a huge fan of Buxom either.

As far as packaging goes, I dislike squeeze tubes and I thing the fuzzy-ended applicators are much neater than say, a small lip brush type applicator.

What kind of packaging do you LOVE & what packaging do you DISLIKE?

I love easy to open packaging, flashy, and doesn’t use a lot of wasted material.

Do you like thick/tacky/sticky formulas or nonsticky formulas?

I prefer non sticky but something with staying power. I know it’s hard to ask lol. I think a consistency close to what I like is the TokyoMilk lip balms. They are tacky but only a bit, and they have wonderful staying power.

Do you like sheer, medium or super opaque color in your lip glosses?

I prefer heavy medium-super opaque lip glosses. I dislike shimmer/glitter in glosses as well. Makes me feel kind of childish.

What is a lip gloss you tried and absolutely HATED? (Brand and shade if possible)

Ugh, Buxom Courtney and the OCC Stained Gloss line. Courtney’s colour was great but the formula was awful.

What is your HOLY GRAIL favorite lip glosses? (brand and shade if possible)

Mac LipGlass (any shade), Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Veritgo and Wonderland, Tarte Lipsurgence in Envy, and I don’t know if this counts but the Too Faced Melted line. That applicator is to die for.

I used to like gloss when I was younger but found with long hair and kissing it is annoying and sticky. I prefer sheer or opaque. Favorite shades are bronzes that aren’t too dark, one I am using for the wedding is Mac Viva Glam brownish plum (I thiiink that is the color). I really like NYC though, for a cheap brand they have great stuff!

Barbiestylez:  I like mint or fruit flavors (but not unusual fruits like mango, something that compliments the color – cherry or raspberry!)

akirasan made a good point I forgot – minimal packaging!

Barbiestylez:

I like simple packaging in clear material so you can see how much product is left, eg. Mac, Buxom rather than Nyx glosses.  I much prefer a doe foot applicator over a brush or squeeze tube.

I prefer thick but nonsticky formulas, not so thick that your lips feel slathered in tar but thick enough to give a “cushiony” feel.  I like the consistency of Buxom and Nyx butter glosses.

I generally prefer a medium to opaque pigmentation because I ususally wear glosses alone rather than layered, but I do have 2 glosses that are sheer that I like.  For MLBB I prefer a sheer gloss but for a unique colour I prefer an opaque gloss.  eg. Revlon Super Lustrous in Super Natural or Rosy Future vs. Driven by Love.

I love glosses that have a stain element (eg. the Revlon Just Bitten) and prefer a vanilla or minty scent.  I love the tingle of the Buxom glosses.

Holy grail: Buxom Sandy, Mac Love Nectar, Nyx Butter Gloss in Tiramisu, Revlon Super Lustrous in Super Natural

Hated: Nyx Mega Shine (too gloopy and hated the cherry scent), L’oreal Glossy Stain dupe (hated the texture and scent, ugh the scent), YSL Glossy Stain (over rated), Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stains (generally love the idea but find them quite drying on my lips after about an hour and my lips actually chap).

Now…my lips tend to be pretty dry and I’m not a super touch up/high maintenance kind of woman so if you could formulate a gloss like the Kissable balm stain but that’s more hydrating, I’d be all over that in a hot minute!

As for shimmer/glitter…I generally prefer a cream with a glossy rather than a sheen, but a bit of elegant shimmer is lovely too.  I’m not a glitter fan.

I am a simple girl, so I don’t know if I really fall into your demographic but:

What kind of packaging do you LOVE & what packaging do you DISLIKE?  Can you use recycled products? go green! I like simple packaging. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

Do you like thick/tacky/sticky formulas or nonsticky formulas? Not sticky!!! But I like it to be thick enough to fully cover my lips for an extended period of time.

Do you like sheer, medium or super opaque color in your lip glosses? sheer or medium is more my style. Often times If I want a color other than clear, I put on lipstick or a lipstain and then put on a clear or slightly tinted lipgloss over it. I like layering.

What is a lip gloss you tried and absolutely HATED? I actually hate Victoria Secret lip gloss. It was super sticky. did NOT stay on, glittery, and it was all around not good. Lucky it was free- will never purchase again.

What is your HOLY GRAIL favorite lip glosses? (brand and shade if possible)

C.O. Bigelow…I have several but my absolute favorite is the plain clear mentha one.

I love that it is mint flavored! Clear, and amazing. 🙂

I like simple, lipstick tubes. I HATE squeezable product where you can’t get the last bit out, anything with a brush, and at the top of the list, I hate pots you stick your grubby germy fingers into!

Do you like thick/tacky/sticky formulas or nonsticky formulas?

I like hydrating, smooth, non sticky formulas.

Do you like sheer, medium or super opaque color in your lip glosses?

I prefer stains or sheer lip glosses

hate, hate, hate lancome juicy tubes. Never understood their circa 2000 appeal?

What is your HOLY GRAIL favorite lip glosses? (brand and shade if possible)

Bite in natural or tawny (makes my lips feel great!), or clinique almost lipstick in black honey (the Perfect shade!)

Barbiestylez:  I’ll play…

1. Packaging- I HATE lip gloss with a wand that doesn’t reach all the way to the bottom. And in general, wands are kind of gross because they are impossible to clean. That being said, sponge wands are better than brushes- they don’t fray or fall apart. I HATE heavy metal lipstick tubes (think inglot, fresh, etc.). The lipsticks get melty faster, even when it isn’t warm because they act as conductors for heat. My favorite packaging would be Nars, because I know those lipsticks won’t fall apart.

2. I HATE sticky/tacky lipgloss. I also hate thicker formulas that over time build up on the lower lip and leave a weird line of gloss. I love matte lippies (again, think Nars, MUFE), but not of they are too drying. For that reason, I love Nars thick lip pencils. It makes it easier to apply intense color in a more controlled way. I hate lippies that are too creamy, and therefore never set (Hourglass, Lancome, some UD). I love rich, pigmented lips that don’t have any weird taste (Dior, some smashbox).

These are my colors that I love-

Reds- 69, UD; Heatwave, Vesuvio, Nars

coral- melondrama, smashbox; streak, UD

pink/purple- plumful, MAC; 578 Diorkiss, Dior; 361 Rose Baiser, Dior

Just a few random things:

I once had a gloss that had a thin mirror attached to the side of the tube, which was long and cube shaped. The other side had the labeling, and the other two sides were totally see through. I loved the little mirror feature so I didnt have to go looking for one, and I loved the clear sides so I could really see what was left and what the shade was really like before buying.

The shade name was printed on the applicator handle. This was also handy because when they are printed on a sticker on the bottom of the tube, they most of the time wear off and you cant even see what the shade was when you want to go buy it again.

I hate when lip products are glittery or overtly shimmery. That just looks cheap to me.

I love when lip products have a bit of flavor/scent to them, but not too candy-ish. For example, no sour watermelon. Thats for kids. But I have a red lipstick by Rimmel that kind of reminds me of red velvet cake, an Avon lipstick that is lightly fruit punchy, and a Burts Bees balm that is Hibiscus. All delicious.

I would love a stain that actually stains, lol. All Ive ever tried come out looking like I scribbled on my lip with a marker. I want something that re-enacts the effect of eating a ton of raspberries, or drinking cranberry juice.
