We are paying $500 for our DJ, but we are not having any of the games. We are havingt the MC, the DJ, and all the lighting.

His original pricing was $800, but i kept checking around and had him beat a price of another DJ, which he did (i was really suprised and excited that he did). That’s for 5.5 hours of the reception. He has all of the really good equipment and if he doesn’t have the song someone request, he will have his laptop there to download it right away.

The Dj we really liked was around $2,000 for 4 hrs. That did include some fancy lighting. He is really good as we’ve seen him preform, but his price was out of our budget.

The Dj we have chosen is about $1000 for 6 hrs but was running a special when we booked him so it was 100 off.

I spoke with both of them and really liked both of them about the same. So for us, it came down to price.

I think the price obviously depends on the area you are in and the DJ’s experience and expertise, and equipment being used. Ultimately you will have to decide if the price he quoted you at is worth it for you. The DJ is the main entertainment, and while I don’t think the pricer-the-better, you do need to make sure the DJ is going to fit the mold for what you want.. That he/she is going to mesh with you and your crowd and provide the entertainment you desire.

keep looking if you think he quoted you high. You may find someone you like more.

My DJ is actually VERY low … he is a friend, but he is a DJ with professional equipments and everything.  No special lighting or effects or "games" we don’t want any of that.  His price for the evening is $300.

Sigh, so jealous. The price of the DJ I think depends on your location. I’m having Bay Area/Wine Country CA wedding and my DJ is costing me $1300 – no fancy lights, just MCing, mics, and 6 hrs of music.

The quote I got for our dj is for $1,295 but includes cordless microphones for the ceremony so everyone can hear you, music for the ceremony, music during cocktail hour and music during the reception for up to 6 hours of service.  They also provide lighting for the dance floor. This quote was given for a wedding in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA.
