I bought the paper from a company to print and assemble the invites myself. This company wanted over $10 per invite. With buying the paper and printing myself (I use a printers often for business so they gave me a huge discount when it came to my invites) it will cost me $400 for 100 invites.
I paid about $350 for 200 invitations and 200 rsvp cards at magnetstreet.com
They are simple, yet very pretty. I was also able to find a 10% off coupon on retailmenot.
When I went to invitation houses, they were $15-10 each (I wanted pocket folds with crystals).
I found the same thing on etsy for $6.75.
It's not particularly a lot...are you on a budget? If it's within your budget then I say go for it...if not, then is there another option? I would have him look up prices for invitations like the one you have and see if he can find a less expensive one...if not, then I say you've won that one
I did my own invitations purchasing supplies through Paper Source, and it came to $165 for about 85 invitations, or just under $2.00 each (plus I am using some of my DIY supplies from the invite making to do my thank you notes and my programs)
We're ordering from theamericanwedding.com with a 20% off coupon. For just the invitations and evelopes, it's about $200 for 125 invitations.
thats not too much at all, IMO, but like everything else, its all relative to your budget! we're speinding $12 on ours with calligraphy, so $4.50 doesnt seem bad to me. again, its all relative
thanks, guys. i just ordered a sample so maybe once he sees them he'll feel better about it. it's in our budget but it's one of those things that's hard to justify since you could argue guests don't really notice/care about them. but i figure since i did email save the dates i can splurge :).
$80 for 60... and they're the nicest invites! thank you Michaels and love those coupons lol
I think $4.50 sounds really reasonable, but it definitely depends on the style of invite you're going for. There are lots of nice, simple styles you can buy for probably less than that. But mine will probably end up being ~$5/invite even thought I'm DIYing everything because I wanted a really unique design and have pocketfolds with a bunch of inserts. I checked out the place where I got my inspiration picture from and their invites are $10-20 a piece! So in my case, $5 is a deal.
$4.50 is really reasonable for invites, I think - especially if you love them! I'm doing them myself, but i've got the help of a graphic designer brother, which makes it much easier. If I didn't I'd be saving my sanity and buying them with about your budget! :)
$2.50 each from an Etsy vendor... included the invitation, outer envelope, RSVP card, and RSVP envelope.
mine were $2.00 a set for a double layer invite with ribbon backing, double layer rsvp, printed outer and rsvp envelopes and a directions/map card.
i got 100 sets and she included the pdf file and 25 extra outer envelopes for mistakes :)
Would you consider doing semi-DIY invitations -- as in, have someone design them, then print them out yourself?
If you are, see my post here! I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to work with you.. and the best part -- you name your own price :)
$4.50 is pretty reasonable, if you're looking at ones with pocketfolds and other embellishments (ribbon, etc).
oiiiii I don't know what to tell you, I feel like I'm paying too much now lol
For 50 invites, RSVP and reception card, calligraphy on outside and inner envelopes - we are paying $568.00
They are custom made by a girl in town she has her own company for stationary =)
Ours cost about $2,300 for 125 invites, but they were custom designed and I have to admit way more than I ever thought I would spend on invites..
We are on a budget so I went to Michaels and bought our invitations. Total we spent $75 for 90 invitations. I'd rather spend money on another area of the wedding. To me having a unique and special invitation just isn't one of my MUST haves for the wedding. People will just throw them away after they served their purpose. I will be keeping one obviously but the average guest will not.
It's kinda funny, we will pay more for stamps than invitations.
We bought 100 pocketfold invites, with RSVP, Map, and Accomidation cards for under $150
I freaked out about the costs of invitations as well. I had just posted my intro with this info, so a copy and paste of what I did:
"The only DIY project I submitted to was our invitations. Thanks to paperandmore.com I was able to do the full suite of invitations, reception, accomodation, reply cards, and more for approx $4.85ea (includes postage and enough cardstock, paper, and envelopes for announcements and thank you cards!) That is for 65 outgoing invites and 100+ announcements (have not completed THAT list yet!)"
I forgot, this also included the pocketfolds and the website insert, as well as a ream of text paper stock, I've given to the teenager for school projects as the colour was way wrong, hehe. I also bought two corner cutters and a new papertrimmer (which are included in the $4.85 breakdown). Otherwise, might have been a bit more inexpensive.
