Jcal87:  are you asking about useable buttons (to replace a zipper or corset) or show buttons? I had a zipper back that I had them hide with show buttons (still had the loop around them, just coverd the zipper) and it was only like $15 but I only had room for less than 10 buttons…

Jcal87:  My dress comes with some but they end by my bum so I am altering it to have buttons all the way down to the bottom. It is only costing me about $40….definitely not expensive! 🙂

I had 72 chiffon covered buttons custom made at $1 a piece. My seamstress added them at .50 a button, from the bottom of the zipper buttons all the way down to the tip of the train. In total, that alteration came to about $110. They did not get loops like the zipper buttons had.

I didn’t get buttons put on so maybe this is an unrelated reply, but I have the CWG533 Oleg Cassini gown and it has dozens and dozens of tiny buttons but none are actually useable and all hide the zipper.

It’s such a beautiful detail and I can’t imagine that it’s difficult to add!

I ordered a Tara Keely dress during a trunk show and they were offering 50% off customizations (meaning the changes are made when the dress is made and not by the alterations dept. at the salon) so I had buttons added over the zipper and it was $160 which I thought was really good until I read this thread lol oh well

Jcal87:  The bridal store I ordered my dress from has quoted $5 per button and I think I need roughly 40 (from the top to just above where the bustle will gather!) so i’m paying roughly $200. I have NO idea if that’s expensive/reasonable/cheap.. but I was happy to pay it to get it done by the people who actually work with my dress!
