I'm an employee there and a huge cake fan. They have a carrot cake but personally I've never tried it. I'm a big fan of the white cake with the vanilla cheesecake mousse I think that would be a perfect third option. Also remember that you can play around with the icings but if it was me I'd stay away from the whipped because it tends to run buttercreams the way to go.
I agree about buttercream frosting. And I also love the cheesecake filling.
I have their carrot cake- I thought it was good and the creamcheese frosting was really good.
What other options are there?
Oooh, I LOVE Costco cake! Great idea! I'm not as familiar with all of their flavors, though -- what are some other options?
I really like the plain white cake with buttercream filling. By like, I mean love it. I had a Costco cake at my high school graduation party 10 years ago, and I still think about it ;)
I don't remember what flavor, but I had a costco cake once and it was really yummy
Where's the pink champagne cake? I know they used to make it. My sister had a 3 tier cake from some baker and also ordered a couple costco sheet cakes. I second the white cake with cheesecake mousse and buttercream frosting.
Hmmmm. I had no idea this cheesecake mousse was so good! It sounded so strange to me. We were thinking strawberry mousse even though i'm not a fan. But since I'M ordering the cake, I can do whatever I want.
So now I'm thinking
a) chocolate cake+chocolate mousse+buttercream
b) Carrot cake+apricot mousse+cream cheese buttercream
c) vanilla cake+cheesecake mousse (or strawberry??)+buttercream
Thanks! Glad to hear the cheesecake filling was so good, I'm definitekly thinking it's the way to go after everyoen said it was so good!
I haven't heard of this pink champagne cake. I'll bring it up when I meet with them Sunday
cake a sounds amazing....i'm going to have to look in to this for my wedding...this post is making me hungry for cake! ![]()
haha! I tried the cheesecake filling and while I thought it was good, I felt it was really dense and heavy for a hot summery night. My BM and I really liked the strawberry mousse. It actually had strawberries in it! Light and fluffy, too. It seemed like it'd keep the cake moist.
It was $18.99 for a half sheet of the carrot cake and $17.99 for a half sheet of the chocolate and white cakes. We'll end up with about 150 servings of cake, which are regular slices. We'll make 'em smaller b/c we're cake fat kids.
oh my god i love costco cake, and their buttercream is *so* good.
not a helpful comment at all but i was really excited about costco cake for a minute.
LoL that's ok, thanks for letting me know it's going to go over well! As long as the place doesn't cut it like 2 hours early. That's a no-no.
I've gotten some comments from people who think i *have* to have my cake done at the more upscale bakeries in town, like Costco is some white trash place or something. Well, $500 for cake is just too much for me. Plus, who's ever had super scrumptous wedding cake anyways?! Costco cake is always super way delicious. I want to actually be able to eat any leftovers, l.
For about $60, you just can't beat Costco...i love that I saved like $400, even after ordering a cute little cake for us to cut from a fancy bakery.
It sounds SO tasty. We're having carrot cake which is awesome (plus 2 other flavors yet to be decided). Isn't this the best hardest decision?!
Ooo we are considering Costco for our cake too! I LOVE the cheesecake filling, but see that you may find it heavy for a sumemr night. If I get a Costco cake, we are definitely doing the ceram cheese!
Haha, yup! It's nice to be able to offer the variety to our guests, though, and if there's too much leftover, it's not like it was $5 a slice!!!
The cream cheese filling is definitely yummy. But with us having an open bar and it being so hot, it just didn't seem idea. But i was thinking chocolate+cream cheese....mmmmm. But my Fi doesn't like chocolate/cream cheese combinations like red velvet either
I LOVE costco's chocolate mousse filling. I could eat it for days....
Do they offer tastings? Or can I just go and buy pieces of 5 diff flavors? My mom is really wanting to have cake -- even though we're planning a cookie bar -- and she has a membership, so this is a great idea!
We are doing the Costco cake for our guests (the wedding party gets the "fancy" bakery cake since we are having it to cut). We chose...
White cake + Chocolate mousse filling + Vanilla buttercream frosting
Oh my it sounds so yummy. Are you getting Costco to do the cake you'll cut? Show us pics when you can.
I went with a fancy french bakery to have a "cut" cake because it just looked so pretty tiered up like that with the different colors. They're going to hand-match the marzipan to my unique wedding colors so I was pretty sold at that point. We're just serving Costco cake to our guests. I'll post pics next month! =]
we're having yellow cake with bavarian cream filling :) It's super yummy!
When I read this idea I thought WOW this is awesome. I am a huge fan of Costco and their bakery is really yummy. This is a great money saving tip.
I fully support your Costco cake endeavor. I plan to do the same!
Sweeeet. My friends think I'm being "cheap" Hmmmm. $500 for cake or $70 for cake? You do the math

My Fi and I are having Costco cake. Our "preferred venue cake baker" sucks monkey nuts. The cake is so bad I couldn't bare to make everyone eat it! Yuck.
What do you recommend as far as flavors? We are having probably 3 kinds. White with strawberry filling (my Fi hates raspberry and apparently his family doesn't like it either), chocolate with chocolate mousse, then something else! But what?!?!?!
Thanks!
