I am trying to decide on whether or not to get a membership...

Does anyone know how much water is in a case at Costco and what the pricing is?

Also, I remember that Sweeny2Be posted about reasonable priced, personalized stamps. Has anyone else bought them who wouldn't mind revealing the pricing?

Last but not least, has anyone stocked their OOT bags at Costco? I am looking at throwing in some fruit leathers/trail mix for 200 and am trying to get a feel for pricing.

I've got awhile for the wedding, but am trying to ensure that the budget stays in check before I fall in love with ideas I can't carry out! I found a glimmer of hope the other day when I found out a sheet cake that serves 100 is only $16. Now instead of an expensive one at the rehearsal I have some $ to get centerpieces.

Hurrah! Thanks in advance for your help! I really appreciate it:)

I need to first say that I love Costco! The standard memebership is $50 for a year.  I would suggest you go to your local Costco and check it out and price things out.  You don't have to have a membership to get in, just to buy!  Just tell the person at the door that you are considering getting a membership, but would like to look around first.  You can sign up and use your membership the same day.  I'm sure their prices vary by region, so I could tell you what I spend on water in CA, but it will be different from where you live!

    GL and happy Costco shopping!!

Prices vary by area so its hard to say.  Have you gone to their customer service desk and asked for a one day pass??  I know our Sam's does it.  A one day pass and you can even purchase that day on it.  If the Costco won't let you purchase, you can at least look around.  Take your pen with you and jot down prices of everything you are looking for.  Or see if you can walk in with some one else who has a membership and price the stuff you are looking for.  It will help you decide.

I would recommend a Costco membership, not just for wedding stuff, but everyday things as well.  I use my FI's membership, but I've been told by friends that you can get in with a gift card.  Yup, if someone who has a membership gets you even a $10 gift card to costco, you can enter and shop.  At the checkout, you just give them your gift card and pay the balance yourself.  Thats how one of my friends goes to Costco without a membership card.  That might be more cost-effective for you if you just plan on going to Costco once or twice to get wedding supplies.  :)  They do only take American Express though, fyi, so if you don't have that, be prepared with cash or a debit card.

We are members of BJ's, so similar idea. Just as a guideline, 35 bottles of Deer Park water is 5.39 for me, and snacks for the OOT bags will run me between 30 and 50 (snacks or granola bars or the like) for 8-10 bucks. So worth it, but I must say, the biggest saver right now is GAS!!! Generally 10-15 cents cheaper than the gas stations next door. BJ's membership is about 35/year. I know Costco definitely has it's advantages over BJ's, but it's also 20 minutes further for us. But we do our regular shopping there too, paper towels, bird seed, toilet paper, face wash, deoderant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, greeting cards and wrapping paper - 1/2 price, you name it. I sound like a commercial, but yeah, for everyday and wedding stuff, I say go for it!

I would definitely recommend a membership...you'll get your money's worth just stocking OOT bags :)  I live in Oregon and I think I paid $7 or 8 per case for Kirkland water bottles (35 bottles per case).... also just in case you were wondering, the labels are super easy to peel of if you're doing DIY labels.

I bought some stuff for our OOT bags there...I would have bought more, but we're doing a "local/organic" theme, so that's obviously pretty limited.  I did buy big pepperidge farm variety packs (with individual portions of goldfish, milano cookies, etc.)...it was about $12 for a box of 30.

    Good luck!

At Sam's in Oklahoma, I get 30 bottles of Ozarka water for $3.88. They have fancier brands too, but I don't know the pricing. If Costco is anything like Sam's, I think the price of a membership is definitely worth it.

I am a Costco addict.  A case of Arrowhead bottled water is about $5 per case!  At first glance, it doesn't seem to be a huge savings until you realize that the Costco case has 12 or more bottles than the case they sell at the supermarket, so there's a definite huge savings.

All the snacks will be way more reasonably priced than the supermarket, especially because you'll get more in volume.  So you can throw extras into some OOT bags if there's leftovers.

It's just my hubby and I in our house, but we go to Costco twice a month because we end up saving so much over the year.  And we stop by on extra trips for things like their rotisserie chicken when I'm too lazy to cook, which is 30% bigger than the grocery stores and the same price.

Everything is better at Costco, the quality of their items is always superior and they have a lot more than just bulk items.  Didn't I tell you I'm addicted to Costco?

This might not be wedding related but who could beat $1.50 for a hotdog AND soda?! ;-) Costco is awesome, period....the membership is well worth it.

We're getting everything for my OOT bags from Costco, but my mom already has a membership. If you don't want to buy one, the one thing I would say is that I've tried to use a friend's card and so got denied! So maybe try roping a friend with a membership into going with you (if you don't want to buy one yourself).

Mmmmm Costco is the shiznit.  I thoroughly enjoy purchasing pounds of Nutella.  Mr. Candy Corn works at the food court (although he just gave them his 2 weeks notice since his co-worker keeps nearly puking on him and he can't take it anymore) and I used to work at the front end as a cashier back in the day.  Ohhh Costco I heart you and your delicious berry smoothies.

Miss Candy Corn: We might have to pressure you into at least giving us a little insight as to why Mr. Candy Corn's co-worker keeps nearly puking on him, I'd say it's a good reason to quit a job, but.. um.. what?! Is it anorexia?? Haha.

    mmmm... berry smoothie.....

Mr. Candy Corn said that she pukes so much because she is either:

a.) on drugs all of the time

    b.) always drunk

    or

    c.) related to Skeletor

I fail to see how being related to Skeletor results in excessive puking, but leave it to Mr. Candy Corn to have his weird reasons.

     :)

Also, if you have a friend with a Costco card, they can take up to two additional people in with them.  The only thing is, unless you bring cash, they will have to pay, as you won't be able to write a check.  So if you're not sure you want to join just to shop for your OOT bags, just go with a friend who has a card, have her write the check, and pay her back.  And then you will have had the whole Costco experience, and will know if you really want to spring for a membership or not.
