Oh, I LOVE that! Sorry I can't give you any actual help with your question, but I do love that pic, hehe.
seems cotton will be ready in October but they do seem to have single bolls available.
How many will you need?
Tons unfortunately. I suppose I can apply some DIY action and dip the bottoms in dirt for brown color. For the burr-flowers I could gather up pecan shells and glue them together. Just thinking outloud! If any of you have suggestions or ideas I'd love to hear them.
Just a word of warning if you are planning on using burlap: a lot of people are allergic to burlap. I work in a fabric store, and everytime I have to cut burlap, I break out with a bad rash. There's actually a number of girls I work with who are allergic to burlap to some varing degree. I would strongly suggest not putting it near tables where food is being served.
@kokuu: I didn't know burlap allergies was a problem. Thank you for the advice.
another alternative might be unbleached muslin for a nice natural and cheap look!
@vistagirl: What kind of fabric is muslin? My other alternative was to purchase cotton fabric. (I'm going with a bio degradable theme. And whatever isn't biodegradable we're recycling. For example our vases were tea plastic tea canisters with lids that we found at the dollar store.)
Muslin is a cotton fabric. Unbleached muslin is a beige color that has a rustic look to it.
I love the texture but it's too light. I think my only other alternative is to go with the cotton. Bummer. I love burlap and it's eco-friendly goodness!
This is MY inspiration pic!
I saw that wedding on greenweddingshoes.com very soon after I started planning and I'm basically stealing everything about it! It's heavenly, I love love love it.
Love this inspiration pic! It has so many of the same elements we had in our wedding!
We got our cotton bolls from cottonman, too (PP posted link). I bought a box of bolls and wrapped some onto wooden skewers and some onto wire with brown floral tape to make the stems longer. I used them for my MOHs bouquets. I also used them for the corsages. (It was very budget friendly - $22 for 25 bolls that was plenty to make 7 corsages and 2 bouquets.)
We used burlap, too! We made burlap table runners (and pillows that sat on quilts outside during the ceremony for guests' comfort). (If you don't already have your burlap, I bought mine from an upholstery website - it was the cheapest I could find, even with shipping. northwest upholstery supplies)
This pic is so great... thanks for sharing and good luck with your projects!
I sell this stuff! Cotton bouquets, boutonnieres, cotton garland, and I can even sell plain ole raw cotton :)
Or... you could pretty please take the cotton off my hands that I used for my wedding. :) pm me for details!

My wedding is just around the corner and I'm using this as my inspiration:
It's quite famous among the bridal community. I'm not big on peonies or roses. I love the plants without traditional flowers and this seems to do it for me. It's simple, earthy, beautiful and non-traditional(which has become my favorite word these past couple of months.) I have most of the materials that I need but I'm missing one important item: the raw cotton! Have any of you a clue where to find raw cotton in bulk with the burrs still attatched?
