I have no idea what it is, but I might be interested! I signed up for a 5k for the first weekend of October for a cancer benefit, and i would like to run it, although you can walk it if you want! How does it work?

I just finished week one and I will start week two tomorrow! So far I love it! I have not ever been into running but I always think that runners have the best bodies so I wanted to give it a try. It seems awesome so far and it is something that can be accomplished. I like that about it. I need obtainable goals.

I loved it! I was never, ever a runner (don’t think I ever ran a mile without stopping, seriously) and had two knee surgeries in my late teens. It was the perfect app for me! I wasn’t in shape, but not severly out of shape either, so I found the first few weeks to easy and skipped them, and instead repeated weeks later on when it became tough. Such a great app for so little money!

I started last week after seeing my friends having such great success with it and I love it! I’ve downloaded podcasts from In The Mind of Suz, she’s got a great mix of hiphop music.

I’ve tried and failed twice. BUT I am so unmotivated and I didn’t do it with podcasts b/c headphones don’t stay on and earbuds hurt my ears.  I think podcasts would be the way to go b/c you don’t have to think about the time at all.  Just stay well hydrated, take it easy, if it hurts too much you’re running too hard.  Build time and then distance.  Good luck!  I fully intend to complete it someday Wink

I love this app.  I starting using it about 2 yrs ago and I still use it.  I run outside and the 30 min and 45 min runs are something I still use everytime I run.  The intervals were great to get me up to the point of being able to run 3-4 miles without having to stop.  Also, I have had to stop running a couple of times due to injury or illness and this helped to get me right back into running again (usually I start towards the middle or end of the series now rather then right from the beginning).  Highly recommend it to everyone who wants to start running.  Good luck and stick with it.  A lot of it is just mind of matter in the end.  And if you have a day (or 2) when you just don’t want to do it, I just tell myself I am going to just put my running clothes on.  Once I have them on I feel silly not to at least grab my ipod and start walking and when it dings and tell me to start running, I do it.  The trick is to just break it down into small bits of time, rather then telling yourself you are going running for 30  min.  Hope that helps 🙂

FI and I started C25K this year.  I am of the never been a runner camp, and yesterday we ran 2 miles!  We repeated weeks 1 and 2 several times, and then I hurt myself and had to take several weeks off, so we restarted in march.  Been great since then; I really love this program and recommend it to all my friends.

We run first thing in the morning, and we run together.  We almost never miss a day, because one of us always insists that we go.  I lay out all my running clothes the night before so I can wake up and throw them on without thinking.

@gingersnap: I discovered this trick when I was working out at the gym.  I would tell myself “I’m just going to drive down to the gym and park in the lot” and once I got there “I’ll just go into the locker room” and at some point you just feel silly and go and work out.  Its a silly trick, but it works on me everytime.
