Also I forgot to mention I have no other typical cold symptoms...just the cough and throat tickles.
Try a hot toddy, if you drink.
a couple tbsp of honey- soothes the throat
A shot of whiskey- my family has alway favored peppermint shnapps, but I like just plain old jack, this supresses the cough reflex just a little
One tsp of lemon juice- I don't know what this does, but the mix doesn't work well without it
Heat it up in the microwave and drink it, I like to stir it with a King Leo peppermint stick.
PS, if it's too strong add water.
@helenberrycrunch- Thanks! I think I have some jack at home, I'll try anything right about now.
Tastes not so great, but I love it. Also feel free to add more lemon juice, there's no such thing as too much of any of these ingredients.
Mucinex! I think it has been around forever but I only discovered it in the last few years. I often get a little cough and runny nose with seasonal allergies and this stuff really helps.
If your phlem is green/yellow and you've been coughing 2 weeks there is a chance you have a slight infection in your lungs (not sure how long you've had the cough). If it gets worse than it might be smart to see a doctor before you leave because it would suck if you had bronchitis on your honeymoon with no anti-biotics to fix it! Do you have a fever?
My go-to for a cough is lots of real green tea, vitamin c, and cod liver oil (gross I know, but it works!).
I've always suffered from coughs after a cold. Someone told me a couple of years ago that apple cider vinegar works and it does - I have it on it's own - it's not too bad. A few weeks ago when I had a cough I ran out of apple cider vinegar so I thought well i'll sit down and have a drink at sherry at 3am and it actually stopped me coughing!
There is something going around that is causing everyone to get this. What worked for me is the generic nyquil. I still have a cough after two weeks, but it has helped quite a bit. I don't take the normal dose though. I drink chugs of it. Also, something that helps is to blow your nose a lot. I have gone through 3 giant kleenex boxes in the last couple of weeks. Also, keep a kleenex handy and when you cough stuff up, don't swallow it. Spit it out into the kleenex, if you can't make it to the bathroom in time. It is essential to get that stuff out of your nose and chest, so you don't get an infection. If what you are coughing up and blowing out isn't clear, get to a doctor and get some antibiotics because if it isn't clear, you have an infection and you won't get better without help from a doctor.

Well right after the wedding I got sick on Sunday night with a cough. It's gross and kind of phlegmy and won't go away. I've tried cough syrup, cough suppressants, cough drops, nothing is working. We leave next week for our honeymoon and I need to get better. This is annoying us both now because I wake him up with my coughing and myself then I can't get back to sleep...I'm exhausted from all the coughing
