So, I’m right at 37 weeks pregnant (craziness, it has flown by!). I have had TONS of Braxton-Hicks contractions for several weeks. When I went to the Dr. last week, I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. So, not a ton, but better than nothing!
Last night, I noticed that my lower back was starting to bug me, a few hours after that, I started having menstrual like cramps. Like, exactly like my period was about to start. They continued all night and I’m still having them this morning. They are always there, and sometimes they get really intense.
Could this be the start of actual labor?!

Could still be Braxton Hicks. Drink lots of water, walk around … are they consistent ?? or off and on ? If they stop when you get up to walk around, probably still Braxton-Hicks. With contractions you will feel a tightening that radiates on your belly. I had back contractions and they started in my back and the tightening radiated forward, and was very painful in my back. Either way, best to call the dr. but try to time them. That is usually the first question the dr. asks.

@charmedbee: Thanks! I’m actually going to the Dr this afternoon so I’ll just see what happens then! They haven’t really changed, and they get worse when I get up and move around, so we shall see!

I’m actually deciding now whether to go in!
When I went to the Dr. yesterday, the cramps had subsided somewhat. The Dr. didn’t think I was showing any signs of going immediately yesterday, but said that that wasn’t a guarantee that something wouldn’t happen.
No change in dilation or effacement as of yesterday.
Today the cramps have returned and seem to be coming in more regular intervals. My back is bugging me more than it was. I just have this feeling of “something is happpening”…if that makes sense? But then again, I am REALLY anxious for baby, so I’m not sure if I’m making something out of nothing.
Help me? Haha.
