So. Future FI and I were talking today that it might be a good idea to plan on getting married next summer. (EECK like a year away). I figured it would be next fall… giving me an extra 6 months or so.
It might be a good idea for us to get married sooner because he graduates with his bachelors in education next May (I graduate in a few weeks 🙂 ). If he plans to get a job that fall to teach (we would have to move… no jobs in our area) We should already be married by next fall. Meaning the wedding should be early next summer since he’ll be out of school, and I’ll be on summer break. It would be the best time.
That leaves me a problem. Though we’re not engaged quite yet (but will be soon!) I have already picked out my ENTIRE wedding decor.
I want a peacock feather themed wedding, and I would like the centerpieces to be sprayed painted branches (possibly gold) in a cobalt blue vase. This has always been my dream. I love the look of branches.. and I would have minimal flowers.. possibly none at all. So the decor for stuff could be cheap!
Would it still work for a late spring/early summer wedding? How could I maybe tweek it for it to work?
See my inspiration:
Should I change and tweek the colors (but still stay in the peacock family)? Are they okay?
Should I change the centerpieces and decor style? Could I tweek it or scrap it?
What do you guys suggest? Could you give me ideas?

Hmm… I think a summer peacock wedding could be done really well. The colbalt blue definitely works, but I think the greens might be a bit muted for summer. What if you did a more apple-y green color to brighten things up?
I’m a bit biased, because those are our projected colors for a June wedding 🙂
Here’s an inspiration board that I totally didn’t make:

Of course! I think a less muted green would be nice too, but it’s your choices, your wedding. My daughter was planning a Fall wedding too-and my mom took a turn for the worse, so they ended up getting married in summer too-in August. She wondered about the same thing. Here is a photo. She pulled in a little more Summer colors with the FGs dresses and flowers.

I agree with @Miss Fish, just alter the colors a little bit. The cobalt blue would be gorgeous at any time of the year but the green tones need to brightened a bit for a spring or summer wedding. An apple green would be really cute for spring and summer, as well as a jewel toned green, like an emerald, to accent it. One of my BMs was married last April and did a peacock themed wedding and it was beautiful!

i also agree to keep the theme and just brighten the green. Looks great

When I think of cobalt blue, I think of summer. I have a friend getting married in June and one of her colors is cobalt.
I agree with everyone else. Maybe make it a little brighter green, and it’ll be perfect! I love the peacock theme!

Yep. Alter the colors. Use more of an aqua and lime green or other bright colors.

@mandigrl04: Hi there , i like that center piece I think you could warm it up a bit by putting some candle around it on the table… Funny thing is you mentioned you are not even engaged yet but soon to be…me too!!! some fellow bees who are in the stages of planning their wedding being already engaged have given me grief about just asking some questions about things that I will have to deal with soon and why not get some ideas on paper before it all happens at once. Good for you for planning ahead a bit..sure you may change your mind down the line but you might not! and you have the ideas down on paper and some of your work is already done for you.

@Anxiouspeanut: Thanks for the idea on the centerpieces!
I haven’t gotten too much grief yet. I’m sure I will soon though. I’m keeping my wedding planning on the D.L. though. I feel silly planning it since I’m not engaged yet, but I know he and I are getting married – we’ve been dating for 4 years. It’s just a matter of when, and timing. Plus I’m just so excited to start plannning! I hate this time in my life of sitting and waiting for my life to start… and everyone’s life around me is already starting!
Timing right now is perfect to start planning, because I’m graduating in a few weeks… and going to a master’s program in the fall. Till August I will only be working part time… it makes to plan and get stuff done now while I have the time.
Good for you too! I think planning ahead of time is best, and when it works for you!

go for it! It is your dream, no one else’s. I personally find nothing wrong, but then again those are some of my favorite colors.
