I thought once you get a peak fertility result on an opk,  you are supposed to stop taking the test. Maybe because the results after are confusing?  I’m no expert I just wouldn’t take much heed if you’ve already gotten your peak response. Tww sucks but to the best of my knowledge there’s no trick to finding out 5 days after ovulation if you’re pregnant….. especially because implantation happens after 6 days at the earliest.

I don’t know what a “weak” positive is on an opk, does that mean the line was ALMOST as dark at the control line? Most tests are considered negative unless the test line is as dark as or darker than the control, everything else is negative.

Also, it’s possible to ovulate early or late and still have a 28 day cycle. I always got a positive OPK on  CD11-13 (depends on the cycle) and a temp rise the next day and would have a 28 day cycle each time.  It’s also possible that you get a positive OPK for multiple days before they go negative again. I usually got two days of positives.

Rachel631:  also, there will ALWAYS be two lines on an OPK, you always have some level of LH in your system.

You always have a bit of LH in your urine. A +opk is when the test line is darker than the control.

It is also possible to have 2 LH surges in a cycle but you only ovulate once..

I’ve never not gotten at least a faint line on an opk. You always have a bit of LH hanging out in there. Also, re: early pregnancy symptoms right after coming off of the pill – it’s very likely that your body was just adjusting to not being on the pill anymore. For a few weeks after I got off, I had giant, swollen, sore boobs, I was lightheaded and nauseated, and my period came much earlier than usual… But since I was charting, I knew I wasn’t pregnant – just had an early ovulation and a short luteal phase.

Generally, the earliest a fertilized egg will implant and start producing hcg is 6 dpo. Then it takes another day or two to filter through your body and end up in urine at a high enough level to turn a pee stick positive. Test again in a few days! Good luck!

Can you post a link to you BBt charts? That would help us help you figure out what’s going on. I also concur with PP’s, pictures of the OPK’s would be helpful. You keep saying weak positive or faint positive. My guess is you aren’t reading them correctly. An OPK will always have some kind of line. To be positive, the second line has to be as dark or darker than the control line.

OPKs predict ovulation. They are to be used BEFORE your temp rises so that you know when you are going to ovulate. OPK’s after you think you O’d are worthless really.

I really would ould try temping again. It can give you SO much information that is incredibly helpful to figuring out what is going on.

Strong pregnancy symptoms the first month off of birth control is very common. It’s your body adjusting to the hormone changes and the symptoms come from a spike in progesterone after ovulation. It sounds like you are just having a bit of a hard time getting into a normal pattern after birth control. It happens. Give it some time, TTC is hard and doesn’t often just happen right away. Most doctors won’t even consider doing any testing for fertility issues until after a year of trying. I know your schedule makes it hard, but charting really is the best way to see what’s happening. Also, the rise in BBT comes after ovulation, so using OPKs at that point is kind of useless, as the OPKs give a positive a couple of days before ovulation. You might have a higher concentration of LH in your system, giving you these misleading tests.
