My best friend is thinking about doing this! It's such a cute idea for couples who are all about the cake like they are :).
I really do recommend it! We ended up spending less than half of what we would have on a traditional cake. Plus, everyone's taste buds were happy =)
We only have 2 cakes (bride and groom) but we have a total of 5 flavors!
I talked to a baker I was considering and she said that I could have more than one flavor and it wouldn't affect the price too much because she would just count is as two seperate small caked that happen to be attached and look like one big beautiful cake.
I love love cake too!! we are having a small 4 tier cake (all different flavors ) and three different flavors for cupcakes because we just couldnt decide.
I love this idea though! I had a friend who had a dessert bar -- cupcakes, martini glasses with different dessert mouses, candies, pies, brownies... it was fun!
(@bride2be) flavors are as follows:
2 carrot, 2 german chocoate, 1 kahlua rum bundt (family recipe), 1 buttered rum (family recipe), 1 lemon poppyseed, 1 marble (our cake to cut), 1 choc with raspberry filling & raspberry on top, 1 boston cream
I'm getting hungry just thinking about it... ;-)

I'm a HUGE cake fanatic... When I couldn't decide on just one flavor or design I stumbled upon my inspirations.... oh, how I love you Martha Stewart....
After a view visits to second hand stores, I had enough plates and bases and my dad epoxied them together to make cake pedestals.
Sooooooo, we ended up with 10 different kinds of cake!!! I must give a shout out to our local pie shop who helped me out immensely!! The Upper Krust in Watertown, WI
