This is so amazing and sweet
I saw that earlier today, it was so sweet. I got tears in my eyes reading it
These two are Baucis and Philemon. We should all be so fortunate.
Perhaps I'm jaded but I'm not feeling an "aww" type of reaction. They could still be enjoying their marriage if they hadn't been driving at 94 years old.
Very sweet story, but I kind of think someone should have taken the car keys away a few years ago. I am just glad it doesn't sound like anyone else was hurt! Not many people even live that long, let alone stay married to the same person for that long. My great-grandparents were married over 75 years before my great-grandpa died...I can only hope my husband and I make it that long!
@Aure: Perhaps I'm jaded but I'm not feeling an "aww" type of reaction. They could still be enjoying their marriage if they hadn't been driving at 94 years old.
I feel the same way! Well, I still think it's sweet that they died together like that, BUT I agree that they should NOT have been driving, and it's a miracle they didn't kill someone else, too.
@Aure: My husband just said the exact same thing as I was reading him the story!
I made the mistake of reading this at work... when I got to the heartbeat part people in the office were asking if I was ok... so sweet and adorable
That reminded me of FI's great aunt and uncle. Great uncle had been sick, and he took a turn for the worst. It upset great aunt so much, that she had a massive heart attack and passed away. He passed away later the next day. They ended up having a double funeral. I told FI that I want to have a double funeral, because I never want to go a day without him.
It sounds like they unconscious in the ICU. It says they were holding hands. Did the paramedics/nurses put them that way?
Relieved that they didn't injure/kill anyone driving at that age!
That made me cry! I just told my fiancé about it and he said that's exactly how we're going to be.
It's a sweet story, but I think most people are missing the part about the fact that they were drivint at 94 years old and pulled out in front of another car and could have killed the other driver that crashed into them. It's a miracle the other person didn't die. Hate to be the pessimistic one here!
This is a really sad/sweet story, but I do feel bad for the other couple that they hit. I guess that the driver of the other car is ok, but his wife had to be flown to Des Moines for internal bleeding and a broken neck according to a comment by the other couple's son. Keep that family in your thoughts as well :-(

You're not the only one. Think of how many more happy months or even years they could have together if someone had been responsible enough to take the keys.
@NDBee: I guess that the driver of the other car is ok, but his wife had to be flewn to Des Moines for internal bleeding and a broken neck according to a comment by the other couple's son.
Nice how the article didn't bother to mention that. I hope she recovers!
@NDBee: How terrible. Thank you for the update. I can't believe how this story was spun with no mention of the couple in the other car. It's not cute, it's a tragedy.
@Miss Apricot: It orginally wasn't in the release this morning. After the son made a comment on one of the local online stories, MSNBC has updated their article.
PS- I edited my horrible spelling error. That's what I get for changing 'they flew her' to she was flown' and don't double check my edits. Arg.
Hm. While I was reading this I also couldn't help thinking that if they weren't driving they would still be together. I'm also curious if they actually "chose" to hold hands or if someone put their hands like that?
Still a cute story.
that is sad...I teared up too. "Her heart was beating thru his..." WOW that's just amazing! I only hope the same thing for me and my man.
I couldn't help but tear up. That's so incredibly sweet, though unfortunate that it was at the hands of an accident.
So much love.
That is so amazingly sweet. I teared up quite a bit reading that article. I hope that happens for my DH and I.
Incredible! Love is amazing.
I told my fiance that is how I hope we take our last breath...together (like in the Notebook movie).
awww I loved this. My FI and I always talk about how we dont want to be without the other, so it is nice to know that it is possible to never be apart!
@Aure: Nope, you are not jaded. You can still feel 'Oh, that's nice that they died together and the story looks like a love story' and also feel 'What the hell were they still doing driving at that age?' I know it's scary for folks to give up their independence as they grow older but I will never forget this story nor others of its ilk. That's what I was thinking of when I read the story. That I hope no one else got seriously injured because no matter how the newscaster read it, I thought the couple was at fault for pulling in front of another vehicle. All in all, a nice story nonetheless.
@NDBee: You are a lawyer right? I love how lawyers can sometimes be so particular about spelling
