Just wanted some other people's thoughts on this video that shows the bride and groom actually pulling out a cellphone during their vows to update their Facebook and Twitter status?! Seems awkward and I bet most of the older guests thought it was rude. Thoughts?

Wow. Yeah, I love Twitter, but that's ridiculous.  That's up there with woman posting to Facebook that they're in labor. Random people on Facebook DO NOT need to know you're having contractions!

If this was just meant to be funny, it was pretty darn funny! Hopefully the older generation understood the humor.

    I just hope it doesn't become a trend. :P

if my hubby did that I'd be so annoyed, but hopefully it was supposed to be funny!

during a religious ceremony though, like mine, do not think it is appropriate at all

I would personally find this pretty tacky, but I guess whatever works for them + their guests.

It appears to me that they were trying to be funny by the way the groom gestures to the guests like wait one second.  But honestly I think they ruined a very special moment for themselves.  They could have turned after the ceremony and pulled out their phones and gotten a cute response similiar to doing a cute dance down the asile but this goes too far IMO.

I agree that it was probably supposed to be funny. But I have to bet the older generation didn't get it. I can't even explain Twitter to my parents or boss, let alone a grandparent. ^_^

Sounds like I'm in the minority here but I thought it was hilarious.  I don't know the couple, but the impression I got was it was very "them".  Maybe they met on facebook and it has a special meaning to them or maybe the groom was just so overjoyed that he wanted to share his news with the world, either way their guests seem to get quite a laugh out of it.  Now I'm not saying I hope this becomes the new trend, but I am all for couples making their wedding their own.

At first, I thought, TACKY! But when I watched it i thought it was cute, and memorable for the guest. Most ceremonies are sooo boring!

At my friends ceremony the pastor read aloud the first conversation the couple had ever had, and it was through facebook. Very cute, and funny.

    ^^I totally agree

It seems like it was completely planned out. I wouldn't do anything like that at my wedding, but it was pretty funny

At first I was like...wha?! Technology is too much!

But it looks like this couple planned it and it was kind of a joke.  Definitely not my style for the ceremony..but at least it was for entertainment!

i wouldn't do that but i thought it was kind of cute. especially because he kept her blackberry in his pocket too. but i think the pastor added to the levity by adding it was official on facebook and in his book. haha.

I saw another couple do this awhile back. While I get theyre trying to be funny, I do not really like it when couples try too hard to be funny during their ceremony.  Like that wedding party dancing to chris brown, blah.

Oh my gosh. THAT WAS AWESOME! It's like that one guy who had "HELP ME" written down on the soles of his shoes. Ah, I may be one of the odd one's out, but I am SO for people doing things their way during a wedding. Kudos to them for having a good time!

If they were doing it as a joke (as it seems), I guess it's kinda funny.  Personally, I don't do any of the social networking sites, so I don't get the fascination.

I think it's cute!  My photographer captured the moments when a couple updated their facebook statuses during their ceremony.

We probably won't be doing it, but I think the trend will start spreading (like every wedding trend), haha

I thought it was funny.  I kind of feel like it would spoil the moment for me, but if it works for them, and they wanted that kind of lighthearted ceremony, great!

Personally, I think it might be better if it was done at the reception.  Could be cute to have the MC hand back the blackberries and make it official on facebook, if one was so inclined.

Funny, but I agree that it is supposed to be a special moment. I am all for technology, but sometimes I think we as a society let it get in the way of too many simpler things.

I think that a good majority of the people at our wedding would so not get it, but it would not be happening during our ceremony anyway.

@ddubzz- I agree with the next new trend.  Soon we'll be seeing wedding pics of the happy couple with their phones/computers updating their status for everyone to see.
