My Husband and I are attending a couples outdoor BBQ wedding shower this weekend (his distant cousins) and we noticed that the high for the day is only going to be 63 degrees. What sorta clothing should we wear? The invitation looks kinda fancy and I have heard these people have a lot of money. I would prefer to wear a sweater, pants, and boots. Is that okay etiquettewise or should I wear a skirt or dress? Thanks for the help.

Because you said the invitation looks more formal, I would probably wear a dress with tights and a cardigan.

And if for some reason it ends up being warmer, you can just go to the bathroom and remove the tights.

@2bMrsG: If it’s a home BBQ I wouldn’t think it would be full on formal… That said I’d go with more business casual- maybe work slacks and a sweater? Where I live the high in the summer is about 65 so I refuse to be uncomfortable in that weather and will wear pants over skirts no matter how formal the event (unless it’s inside obviously). Sorry, but my comfort comes first!

Thanks for the responses. The BBQ shower is at the Groom’s parents’ house, yes. My Husband didn’t think the invitation was fancy, but I thought it seemed relatively fancy for a BBQ. I’m planning on wearing a cable knit mauve sweater with black skinny business casual pants and dressy knee high boots. I think that will be very warm and cozy for the weather. I’m not a big skirt or dress person usually. My Husband is also wearing a sweater and business casual pants.
