I second RockStar33 check out the message boards. We are going to CSA July 14-20 so we will be there at the same time! I have done TONS of research on it, so let me know if you have any questions. I’m going to answer yours based on the responses I have seen on the messages boards.
What to do?
Relax, relax, relax. Apparently “sand gravity” is a thing and it makes leaving the beach to do anything next to impossible. If you walk toward the ocean, facing the ocean, turn left (i think-i will have to double check that) and walk, you will come to little shops that is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the tourist trap they take you to in the “shopping excursion”. Definately go on the catamaran cruise. Book it ASAP when you get there- it fills up quick.
What to bring?
Oh boy. Private message me your email and I will forward you a list of stuff that a woman on the message boards (Couples.com) was nice enough to send to me.
Did you do any special excursions that were not included in the resort?
Our travel agent gave us a list of available excursions. I think the only one we are going to do is the dune buggy off road tour. The message boards say not to over book yourself with excursions-plenty to do for free at the resort and its important to spend at least one day with nothing really planned but relaxing.
Are there places we must go while in Negril?
Some people say Rick’s cafe, but a lot of comments on the message board say its an overpriced tourist trap. The catamaran cruise apparently takes you to an awesome place to do some snorkling though.
What was the best restaurant on the resort, in your opinion?
This one varies from person to person, but everyone agrees eat at each one at least once. For the restaurants that require reservations, pick your evening and reserve it asap after check in.
Do you have to get to the beach asap in the morning to get a chair?
Every single person has said the resort is almost always booked solid when they go, and never have any issues finding chairs, although occassionally will have to drag two together. Big deal.
