@Overjoyed:  I would! I would like some kind of activities itinerary which includes time alone for both couples. Separate rooms are mandatory also. Overall it sounds like fun and Iplan to do this with some of our couple friends in the future.

As long as each couple had their own room/space, I would definetly consider it. I would also want some one on one time with my FI, but I think that traveling with anothe couple would be so fun!

This is my kind adventure, so my answer is YES.

No special circumstances are necessary.  My only ground rule would be to decide ahead of time on who pays for what so that neither couple feels resentment.

I definitely would! I wouldnt set any rules because I would only travel with a couple I’m very comfortable with. We would have separate rooms and pay for things separately.

Why not? I’d totally want our own room, though.

I’ve done a couples trip and it was pretty fun.

If you decide to go, one thing you should think about/discuss is whether you guys want to do everything together or if you’ll just meet up occasionally.  When we went we sat together at the pool and beach a few days and did dinner together most nights. It was nice to have someone to meet up with, but personally I liked the individual time.

@Overjoyed:  Depends on the couple. If the couple were expereinced world travelers, we would have our own rooms and solo time, and we had similar ideas of fun, then yes. With DH’s best friend and girlfriend who have never left the US, scream American (not in a good way overseas), want to get 2 bedroom apartments, and prefer to get wasted over seeing a show, nope. But DH’s friend from college who is Russian living in Germany and traveling with his Irish girlfriend, and have their own list of things they want to do. Yep! We leave in April.

@Overjoyed:  As long as its a couple we enjoy travelling with.  I have learned on past trips that some of my friends have totally different travel ideas than I do and we aren’t compatible!

Next weekend we’re splitting a ski chalet with my best friend and her husband.  I can travel with them, no problem.

@Overjoyed:  A shared house is not my own space. I will do it for 2 nights max if I have a car and things to do. I am an introvert and find that having to always “be on” just does not work for me. We do rent a beach house for a weekend with friends ever year and it is fun, but I plan on plenty of opportunities to be away from the house and would never travel overseas with these people.

@Overjoyed:  We could only get a 2 bedroom 1 bath condo (we booked too late).  So we’re sharing a bathroom.  It’s not a big deal.  As long as we each have separate bedrooms we’re good.  I’d totally rent a beach house with my friends and their SO’s.

My SO and I have groundrules for which couples we will travel with.

Basically, we have to either be on the same page, or be independant enough if one couple wants to do something and the other doesn’t, we can split up for a day easily.  Secondly, both of us have to like and enjoy hanging out with BOTH people in the other couple.  (so no his best friend whose wife I can’t stand).  And our expectations about travel have to be in line, so backpacking vs. luxury hotel hopping needs to be clear from the get go.

We just did. We went on a trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon with my parents.

It’s not a big deal as long as you’re not completely tethered to the other couple all the time.

@Overjoyed:  Yea – that sounds fun!  It would have to be a couple who we think would be good travelers though.
