Friends of mine who had a family-only ceremony and a reception the next day worded their invitations: "please join the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. Smith for a reception to celebrate their marriage" [actually, it was slightly more complicated because the bride didn't change her name, but I can't figure out how to convey that with pseudonyms!]
We're having a reception more than a year later, so our invites say "please join us to celebrate five hundred days of marriage" (it's actually 497 days, but close enough, right?)
How about something like:
Please join
Mr. John Smith
and Mrs. John Smith
Along with their families in celebration of their new marriage
Date, Place, Time
Or you could go with something cute like:
"They signed the certificate and now it's time to celebrate!"
Please join us in celebrating the new marriage of Mr. XX and Mrs. XX
Date, Place, Time.

I need some help. My sister and I are planning to throw a party/reception for a friend of ours who is getting married at the courthouse. We are having a really hard time finding a way to word the invitations. Any suggestions??
