Hi everyone!! So i have an elbow length veil and it covers my shoulders.  Do i have to wear some sort of other covering under the chuppah?  Like.. a chiffon shawl or shrug or do you think I could pass with just the veil?  My mom seems to think that ill have to buy a shrug, but that would really take away from the look of my dress (which is sleeveless).

    Thanks for your help!!

Ask your rabbi! Surest way to make sure you get this one right!

I agree to ask the Rabbi. Do you have a talis?  You could wear that for part of the ceremony.

I should just ask my rabbi.. im getting married by an orthodox rabbi, so chances are he will want me to wear something over my shoulders.

Do you girls know of anything "stylish" that I could wear instead of a shawl?

Some sellers on Etsy sell some AWESOME boleros that might work, and they can custom design it to go well with your dress.

I'd just repeat the advice to ask your rabbi.  Ours does not seem to be concerned at all about the state of our shoulders.  I've heard of some saying the shoulders need to be covered, but that a veil that is at least shoulder length complies with the requirements.  Others want the bride to use a bolero to cover up.

So I found out about covering my shoulders under the chuppah.  The rabbi said that since its not going to be in a synagogue and its outside, i dont have to wear anything on my shoulders.  Thanks for all of your help :)
