So I just had my weekly meeting with my boss and she told me that my coworker is being promoted to assistant director and will now be my direct supervisor.
I just wanted to vent a little because it’s super weird. My coworker was out of the office last week and willl be out this week since she just got married so it’s weird to hear about it now. It’s also weird since it’s a small unit. The director, my coworker (assistant director now), and me. And we have 4 student workers.
I mean I should have expected it. My coworker has been working here for 6 years and really does know a lot about everything. She has actively been looking for other work in order to make more money but hasn’t found anything. It’s just kind of not fair (I know, the world isn’t fair) because in all the other units on campus in order to be an assistant director you have to have your master’s (which is why she hasn’t been able to apply to a ton of jobs since she doesn’t have one). and for our director to just create this new position with out a standard requirement found in other departments just because she really likes my coworker kind of sucks.
Well I’ll be prepared to congratulate her on her marriage and promotion when she gets back next week.
