I have this one coworker who gets on my nerves so much. He always accuses me of doing something wrong (I've always had a good reputation and I always get my work in on time, yet he acts like I'm the most untrustworthy person) and constantly micromanages my work, even though he's a team member and NOT my boss. I find the way he speaks to me to be somewhat condescending and like I'm always being blamed or doing something wrong. I could only speculate as to why (is it bc I'm one of the only white people in my dept? because I'm a girl? because I'm young?) but since technically speaking he's not doing anything that's wrong I can't say anything about it. He always has an answer for everything; when I say "I do xyz this way" he always says "oh no you shouldn't do it that way, do it this way because it's better". ALWAYS. I feel like I'm going to LOSE IT if I have to deal with this every day for the rest of my life. My coworker in the cube next to me has even remarked about how much he tries to spread blame on me!

When he comes to my desk to "blame" me for something, I usually just tune out and nod my head until he stops talking. Then I turn back to my computer and he just STANDS THERE and won't leave. Arghhh!! Stop poking your nose in other people's business and for pete's sake, trust your coworkers to do their own work!!

Anyone else have specific coworkers that really grate on your nerves?

Yes I totally understand!! I have a co-worker who's been here less time than me, is a position below but, he is constantly trying to one-up me in front of my boss. So irritating.

I know how you feel! The only thing you can do is to cover yourself - keep logs of emails he sends you, and records about comments he makes to you. If it ever escalates to anything, you will be prepared.

I work in an environment where people are constantly trying to shift the blame from themselves onto others - and where people also like to think they are the bosses of everyone. I just keep everyones emails and I cannot tell you the amount of times I have saved myself that way! If you have an email saying such and such asked you to do something they shouldnt have, the blame goes straight  back to them.

Its sad it has to be that way and certainly its not been like that anywhere else I have worked... but thats the way it is!

Just try and keep your spirits up! we spend too much time at work to take these people too seriously
