A heating pad and some tea with honey (anyone that's low or has no caffeine). If you've already been taking medication I don't think there's too much else you can do that way unless you see a doctor.
Staying on the BCP was very worth it for me, maybe you can try out some different ones if this is what happens to you without it?
YES! Get heating pads! (They are seriously amazing.)
Also, you can be comforted by the fact that it should get better with time. My body did some crazy things after I went off BC... but it straightened itself out after several months :)
Ibuprofen is better than paracetemol (acetaminophen) because it actually helps reduce the cramping itself, rather than just blocking the pain. But if it's not even making a dent... maybe you should see a dr.
Hope you feel better soon!
I agree with PPs. Hot tea and a heating pad always help me. A nice warm shower/bath does too, and then right into snuggly, warm clothes. Tight waistbands/jeans don't help me, so I try to be as comfortable as possible during that time of month when mother nature gets cranky.
My mother (being the angel of an OBGYN that she is!) got me something called mefenamic [sic] acid. Oh that stuff cleared EVERYTHING up! So freaking weird, but I'm grateful she thought of it when she did haha. I do need to invest in a heating pad though...
Thank you all for your suggestions! it was horrible, I've never had cramps that bad in my entire life...
I'll be back on BCP after this cycle ends. I was off it on my mum's recommendation because I forgot to take breaks between the pills (oops!) which lead to breakthrough bleeding (sorry if that's TMI!). Thankfully things will be sorted out now though!
Glad you are feeling better. I never go off my pills, don't get much breakthrough bleeding anymore.

I've been off my BC pills for about 3 months now (weird spotting issues etc) and this is my second period whilst I'm off it. And oh my gosh it is terrible, so freaking terrible. Brufen and paracetamol don't even put a dent in it, it's ridiculously heavy (sorry if this is all TMI) and I feel seriously horrible and yukky and in pain!
Not to mention my IBS is playing up too (serious stomach pain going on here). This is not fun, I've taken peppermint oil for it but it's not helping this time...
Does anyone have suggestions? Please, I'm seriously not doing very well here...
