if you love your dress, why should it matter what kind of look it has? i think it's beautiful, btw. :)

haha I have to comment. and no it looks fine ..ad pictures are so misleading and I'm sure it looks great on you. I was looking at the Maggie Sottero Victoriana and in the ad the "pickup" looks wayyyy over the top..I saw a pic of a bride selling it and it looked so beautiful I wanted it !!! lol
These look like pickups to me, but a little different than you usually see.

If you love your dress, then that's what matters! Haha I was going to say, that's a unique color choice before I saw your comment about your dress being white :) Although I think blue all over could be cool too...
i'm not a huge fan of pick ups, they make me look like a cupcake. BUT your gown they're tastefully done. when i was looking at gowns on maggiesottero.com i was looked at yours and victoriana before choosing edwina marie=)
Yes, that is a pick up dress. I would not buy that dress for me.
But what amazes me is that as much as I would not like a certain dress on me, you rarely see a bride who doesn't look beautiful in a dress she loves. It may be an impossibility, like a rule of physics, that if you love your dress, you will look radiant.

Don't fret girl! What matters is that you love it. Its your wedding, your dress, your day! Dont worry about what one poll may say. Im sure you look beautiful in it.
My dress is an all-over lace fit and flare dress with a modified sweetheart neck and I'm sure a lot of people would find it boring because it doesn't have a lot going on but do I care? No! I love it. Don't stress. We all have personal style and it's PERSONAL because it isn't the same as everyone else's.
haha, thank ladies, I appreciate the honesty. you all make me laugh. It was never a dress i thought i would buy but its fun and sexy and fab, i must admit i went through dress regret for a little bit cause there are sooo many amazing dresses out there, then i found the current angle and fell in love all over again. Its hard to see it in blue when you know its in white and the angle on the website it different so that was all i kept seeing.
Yep, but don't call it the "ever hated" look! Just because some people are dead set against them, doesn't mean that anyone is going to hate your dress. I'm sure that dress will look beautiful on you!
My dress has some pickups, I never really thought anything of it, until I saw so many people say how much they didn't like them. I'm not concerned, I love the way I look in my dress :)

I am amused by pick ups every time I see them though, after one of my guys friends asked 'why the skirt of that dress looks like crumpled paper' when looking at a bridal magazine :) but it's just that comment that makes me laugh, not the actual look.
Haha, I mentioned this "I hate...in a dress" thing before in another thread. Each one of us loves and hates different things. I wouldn't call pick-ups the ever hated look, I've seen sooo many girls here wear it beautifully. Some hate trumpet dresses, some hate lace, some hate pickups etc. To me what looks like crumpled paper is taffeta, that's my pet peeve I just can't get over. A Maggie I loved had a taffeta band going through the chest and I asked the salesgirl if that can be ironed out or if it's supposed to look like that, she looked at me like I was crazy :)
Actually they are bustles. I have MS Hampton and it describes my dress as having bustles not pickups. But it is beautiful anyway!

I think people who don't want them on their dress are the anti-ballroom dress types. I was looking for something simpler. Pick-ups create more volume on the dress, that's all and they can be very pretty!
Your dress is gorgeous and not at all what people consider to be "pick ups". I wouldn't give it a second thought.
I found the post that you're referring to pretty upsetting too. Don't worry about it - you wouldn't have picked this GORGEOUS dress unless it looked fab on you and you felt like a million bucks in it. You're going to look just stunning, pick-ups or no pick-ups!!
I *hate* pick ups and yours aren't that quilted, jabba the hutt looking pickup I avoid. It looks elegant and beautiful!!!!
And ps- just because I hate pickups doesn't mean I wouldn't think my friend looked BEAUTIFUL in a dress with pick ups! Just they're not for me :)
I think that's a very pretty dress and not what I would call pickups! I don't have a problem with them anyways :) Apparently my dress has them too?
Yes, they're pick ups but they're nice ones! Mine has some too, and I don't think mine or yours has that "comforter" look.
Psh, so what? I think your dress is beautiful! And if people hate pick-ups, that's their own opinion. You might hate column dresses and some girls LOVE those! To each their own.

i love it and i wouldn't say it was a pick up more of tucks (but tomato ta-ma-toe) i actually will be adding one of these to my dress i hope because i like the interest it gives.

As a pick-up-rocking bride myself, my heart sunk a little to hear it referred to as "ever-hated." But I was cheered to read the hive's supportive comments :)
Just cuz you're looking for opinions: I don't classify this as the early 2000s pickup, but the newer, softer version. I call these the down comforter gowns. :)
I really really like it!!! Plus, no one really knows what pick-ups are with the exception of brides who spend time looking at bridal websites/magazines. Point being, none of your guests will gasp and say "her dress has pick-ups!!!" haha! Your dress is gorgeous!! :)
i have the maggie sottero victoriana which has a ton of pick ups and its absolutely beautiful on! your dress is amazing. WHO CARES what anyone else thinks! you will look wonderful!!!
I don't think that "the ever hated pick-up" is at all accurate! I think that pick ups are just a really really distinctive look and like all distinctive looks some people will not be as into it (SOME not most).
I happen to think that you're dress is drop dead gorgeous!
I love your dress, it reminds me of those 10,000 dollar St. Pucchi dresses... I'm definitely putting it on my "list" I don't understand the pickup problem... I like them, but your dress doesn't really bring pickup to mind, its more of a fluffup!

I see one of the recent polls about trends and i know many people hate the dresses with "pickup". Does my dress have that look?
I dont love the look either and now i wonder if my dress has that look. Bee honest!!!
