I ordered my dress today(watters, greta) I really love it. However, I googled the dress and i noticed it sorta toches the ground in most pictures. They asked me if I liked the length and I was like yea sure whatever. I liked you could see a bit of my shoes(navy to match the bridesmaid dresses) and that was wasn’t tripping on the front like some of the more volumous dresses I tried on. I remember it looking ok in the mirror. But looking back on the picture(taken by somone sitting down with me standing, never flattering) I’m worried the dress is too short. Also I ordered 3 sizes bigger than the sample I had on as well. I’m hopping this will give me some more legnth too? I’m starting to freak out a little. sorry i still cant figure out how to rotate this!

@meanmug88: when you get your dress in your size, it may be ok. the sample looks like it’s pulled up a bit on the waste so it appears shorter.

it’s pretty short. how high are the heels you’re wearing?

It’s definitely too short if that’s the size you would be wearing, but if you ordered several sizes larger, then you could be in the clear. How tall are you and the heels?

@meanmug88: it’s definitely too short. I’d call the salon and get the length from the Watters size chart (which you can also probably find online) to see if there’s a difference between the sizes. You still might be able to order extra length.
How tall are you? I’m 5’9 and am wearing 3″ heels and ordered extra length. It was definitely the right choice, as I found out at my first fitting Saturday.

@meanmug88: I would say it is. How high are your heels? Can you wear shorter ones that will still show your heels slightly while being able to drop your dress a bit?

here’s the dress (and you) upright- the dress is too short in this pic, but I wouldn’t panic until your dress arrives.

@meanmug88: I have tall bridemaids (6 foot 1 and 5 foot 11) and the salon I went too told me that with each size increase the length of the dress also increases. So if you ordered 3 sizes bigger than the sample you had on you should be ok?
ETA – you can see in the upright photo that there is bunching around your waist and the dress is riding up from where the dress is too small – if that was pulled down and smoothed I think the length would be better too. So I wouldn’t panic.

Typically they come in a standard length, strange they would ask if you like the length because typically you have it altered. Technically yes it’s too short and should brush the floor just barely

It looks really short to me. Ideally, the hem in the front should be 1″ from the floor with your wedding shoes on.

@meanmug88: it looks like its bunching at the waist which should drop it a bit and with 3 sizes bigger I would assume that would just be hovering at your toes. I did a watters bridesmaid dress and going up from the sample I got some added length but if you are that worried Id call and see if they can tell you the length that will be added just by going up in size or see if you can order added length

It’s too short. If it was just ordered today I would call the salon tomorrow and ask if it can be ordered with extra length. When I triend on my dress it was about that short on me and one size too small, and I ordered extra length.

@meanmug88: I think with the bunching at the waist (could be up to an inch and a half of lost length!) and the bigger size, you will probably be fine. But, if your shoes still show and you like that, don’t let what people here think matter! Most people drop loads of money on shoes that MAYBE get seen in some photos but that’s it. At what point did it become a rule that you can have a tea length or toe length dress but not an ankle length? Rock what you like!

Thanks for all the input ladies! I really didn’t think anything of it since the shop employee, my mom, and the friend I brought with me didn’t say it looked messed up. But now that I have time to really look at it I started to have second thoughts. You can’t really see the length issue in the few other pictures that were taken(because of the angle).
They said the lenght of the dress is standard. The heels are 3 in. and I am 5’10”. If it’s too late to add the extra I guess I just have to wait until May when it comes in and hope for the best(aka hope the size adds some length and that alterations can fix it). Ahhh that’s so long from now!

@meanmug88: Watters online size chart suggests that if you are 5’8″ tall with shoes on you should order the extra length. The extra length is 5″.
