Well I thought this NYE would be fun but it’s turned out really crappy. My cousin came down today because we had planned on going out tonight. I got my haircut today and then we came back and were looking at the computer when I saw my cousin’s brother posted on facebook that our grandma died this morning. What a way to find out! So we both checked our phones and sure enough there were voicemails from our moms telling us to call them. So yeah, my grandma died today on NYE. To make matters worse my parents moved yesterday out of their house and are on there way across country to their new home 2000 miles away. They are halfway there and stuck in the blizzard in Wyoming and now they have to figure out how to get back for the funeral. They don’t know if they should keep driving to their home or drive back here through the blizzard again.
Ugh it’s just been crappy. My cousin and I feel like we shouldn’t go out now tonight with everything that’s happened today. I know my grandma’s in a better place, but man it’s tough when deaths happen around the holidays.

i’m so sorry for your loss. at least you have family with you though! maybe the two of you can just have a girls’ night in and talk about memories of your grandma.

I found out my grandmother died via facebook, too – my uncle posted before my mom had a chance to call us (since she was the one making arrangements, not the other people at the hospital).
Take heart that New Years Eve is highly overrated, anyway. So sorry to hear about your grandmother!

That is horrible! I am so sorry :-(. I am glad that your cousin is there with you, though. I had plans to go out with a friend when my grandpa died, and I didn’t feel like doing much, either. My friend’s dad died the day after Christmas, and it’s always made that holiday difficult for her.
I would enjoy spending time with your cousin. Watch something funny on TV, spend some time talking about your grandma. Order in a pizza or get some takeout, and relax. I’m sorry for your loss :-(.

I’m so sorry! What a crappy NYE. It sucks that you had to find out through FB, though.
