Okay, so my wedding date is 10.12.12 and it’s quickly approaching. I have a Reem Acra gown that is just not going to fit me unless I have a corset back put in. IMO, altering a Reem Acra gown like that would be sacrilege. So, I hit various websites to see what I like, and I really fell in love with Watters Gabrielle gown. None of the bridal salons in a 90 mile radius even have her in stock.
I scheduled an appointment at a bridal salon and went in tonight to try on gowns. While I did like a number of them, I didn’t love any of them like I do Gabrielle. So, without trying her on, I ordered her in blush! Due to the short time frame, they’ll call to see if they can get her in time for my wedding. If yes, then the order will be placed. I have my fingers crossed; crossed that they’ll be able to place the order, crossed that I’ll love her on as much as I do in the pictures, and crossed that blush will be as lovely as I hope. Talk about a leap of faith.

I have made a similar leap, date twin. I purchased my original dress in January. It was a rushed decision, and by mid-March, the dress was in. The dress, while beautiful, is not one I was in-love with, and no matter how hard I tried to love the dress, I just couldn’t get to that point. I liked it a lot, and still think it is very pretty, but ultimately, it wasn’t and is not for me. So, with less than five months until the big day, I have started over from scratch. I found a local designer, who will be making my dress. I just paid the deposit today. She sketched a one-of-a-kind design based on my specific likes, we picked the fabrics, and now I am waiting anxiously to see it all materialize. It’s a bit stressful, but I’m optimistic! I really love the new dress you ordered. It is beautiful, and I’m a sucker for blush. My dress will also have a hint of blush in the underlayer. I’m sure you will look stunning, and feel just as amazing in your new dress! Best wishes!

@smcopp89: I’m so glad I’m not the only one making last minute changes and taking leaps of faith. I hope your dress turns out beautifully and that you love it.
And to all of you other bees, thanks for the good luck wishes.

I took a similar leap of faith. I ordered my dress online. My wedding is August 10th. It arrived on Monday and I just LOVE it!!! It’s exactly what I wanted (just have to get the straps shortened).
Just make sure you have a tailor, seamstress or other alterations shop lined up to make fitting adjustments for you. I’m taking mine to the tailor today. She does suits & wedding dresses, so I feel confident she’ll make the appropriate alterations on my straps. I called some bridal salons, but since I didn’t purchase my gown directly through them, my dress wouldn’t be a “priority” and most didn’t seem interested or wanted to charge more.
If you’ve tried on something similar and you know it fits you well, there’s nothing wrong buying online. You are the only one who knows how clothes fit your body and you can judge whether you think the style is going to suit you. I think the gown you chose is lovely!
Best of luck! I’m hoping you’ll post some “I love my dress!” pics when you get it
