I agree, there are hardly any good inspiration pics for natural curly hair. I have super curly hair and I'm doing it myself for my friend's wedding this week because no one styles my hair correctly! I will try to post pics next week. Basically...I am going to wash my hair the day before using Deva Curl products (makes a HUGE difference what products you use) and style it, mostly letting it air dry. Then I will clip my hair up so I can sleep on it without messing it up.
The next day all I will have to do is use a little spray to liven it up again. I'm going to pull it back in a loose ponytail and pin it. I tried it last weekend and it was very easy and looked good. As long as my hair cooporates it should go well!
That's the thing, Heather. You never know if the curls are going to cooperate!! I'll have to try out that Deva Curl product you mentioned. Does it need to be bought at a salon, or can I find it at a local CVS?
Oh, and I'd love to see pics!
Go on the Deva Curl website and look for a salon in your area. http://www.devaconcepts.com/ If you are lucky enough to find one, go get your next hair cut there and you will be amazed (assuming your stylist is well versed in the Deva style). As for the products, you can get them at Ulta stores, but if you don't have one near you, you can buy the products online from certain retailers. I'm sure you can buy them online from Ulta as well.
My fav products (All part of the Devacurl line):
-No Poo Cleanser (shampoo without the suds...only shampoo about once per week)
-One Condition (best conditioner i have ever used)
-ArcAngel (you put a generous amount of this in your hair when it's wet)
-Set it Up and Above (hold my hair well)
Honorable mentions: B'leave in (leave in conditioner), Mis-ter Right (revitilizing spray) I also use a Redkin Quick Dry hairspray occasionally.
You know you have curly hair when you go to the salon and the hair stylist says EVERY time _ Gee you got curly hair! I spent over half of my adult life getting it straightened unti,it started breaking off at the roots.
I kinda cheated cos I am wearing a HAT!
I also use the Deva products and they are pretty great. I buy them online from cosmeticmagic.com --- they seem to have the best prices, definitely better than the salon. Of the products, I have used the no poo shampoo, the one condition conditioner, b'leave-in hair conditioner, arcangel gel, and the heaven in hair leave-in conditioner.
Right now I am using the heaven in hair leave-in conditioner as product instead of washing it out like the directions say---my curly-haired stylist showed me this trick and it works great, good for hot and humid days. The other products worked well but I have also had good success with the Pantene Pro-V curls line, particularly their conditioner. I go through so much conditioner that it wasn't worth the cost of buying the Deva brand. Pantene also makes a good gel.
Here's some pics of some curly haired brides:

I'm with ya - another super duper curly one here. Have NO idea what I'm doing to my hair that day. Great thread.
OKay, here are my diy pics from my friend's wedding. Here is what I did:
- Washed, styled and dried hair the day before (half blow dry, half air dry)
- Clipped my hair up witle I slept
- Pulled my hair back into a loose ponytail and then started pinning the curls back until I was happy
Oh, and used lots of hairspray once I was finished!
Sorry, I saved them as smaller files, so hopefully the work this time.
Still not working...if you can tell me how to post the pics, I'll do it.
I have curly hair! Well, it's more wavy, but because I was getting married outdoors, I decided to embrace the wave. I've got medium-length hair, and I had my stylist use a curling iron to give it a little more shape and went for a very vintage feel, with a pincurl against my cheekbone in the front. It held up great all night long and really held my veil well (during the ceremony) because it was so thick. Hope this helps!
This is a good thread. I have very culry hair also. I wear it straight though and straighten about every other day. For the wedding day it will probably be a longer pocess. Usually if I add curl, I straighten, then curl again. I know it seems like it defeats the purpose but my natural hair is like a birds nest and heat makes it much smoother. So what is up with this wash, dry and pin it to sleep trick? Its something I've never heard of. I am not sure if my hair could withstand that or if it would still frizz.
here's the one i currently love, though my hair is wayy more tightly curled than this.
@amysue, your hair is gorgeous!
I just purchased the DevaCurl line yesterday at a salon in my neighborhood, and after one use I'm fairly impressed. I need curl definition badly in my wavy-to-curly fine hair, and I think I'm seeing it. I am eager for further results! And Chelsea, thanks for the tip on cosmeticmagic.com, I was not looking forward to paying salon prices forever.
I'm a curly girl too! Although mine is deep waves/curls. Not super tight curls.
Here's some pics I've found that I liked.

Any naturally curly-haired brides out there? I'd love to see some inspiration pictures!
My hair is super-duper curly, and I never seem to come across any pictures of brides with my hair type. All the pictures I've seen are of perfectly polished, naturally straight, but styled hair. That sort of thing is pretty much impossible for this head of curls...which is leaving me to wonder, what do all the curly-haired brides do??
