Our wedding is based around Halloween, horror movies and 50s rockabilly/pinup. lol. All the things I like.
if you want your guests in on it, encourage them to dress as famous movie stars or characters?
some other ideas:
red carpet for the entrance
if you can pull it off, a big screen (or even projection onto a wall) of a home made movie of you guys or a slide show?
This is fun! Most people have been to enough of the same type of wedding weddings that they'd be excited to go to this themed wedding. You could have fun with the table numbers and place cards, too!

you could name your tables after your favorite movies and have a movie-themed specialty drink.
Maybe the wedding should be a 'marriage premiere'. Wedding premiere would make me think rehearsal dinner for some reason. But I say go for it.
I'm having a Nintendo themed reception, so I think this is great! I would go with the previous poster re: a large projection screen... and make your own "wedding trailer" - if you just google this, you'd get a kick out of all of the trailers people have made, they're great!
how are you going the candy popcorn as centerpieces? thats where my dilema is at.

We're doing a movie theme wedding as well! FH is a huge Star Wars fan so we'll be walking out of the ceremony to the Throne Room song. We're having a red carpet for an aisle.
Our centerpieces are going to be luminaries with old movie posters instead of pictures:
For our guest book, we're going to put out a bunch of small movie posters for people to sign like this:
During dinner, we'll be playing music from movie soundtracks as well.

my FH and i really love movie... i know people say that but we really love them... I also believe it a day for the groom and the bride not just the bride and with that i wanted my fh to help so i figure we would go with a really crazy theme... all about movies... i'm not a fan for all white wedding soo we figure to do a whole another thing and make it crazy and fun.. this is what we have so far:
