WHY NOT? - As long as it's not white or ivory, it's okay : (9 votes)

MAJOR FAUX PAS - Don't risk offending the bride. It's too close to being off-white. : (29 votes)

If the dress is really lighter, I’d stay away from it for a wedding. I think different brides think differently about this, but it’s probably best just to play it safe and wear a color.

@artbee: I agree. Unless it’s your only dress, I would err on the side of caution :).

I think it looks like a great dress!  As a bride, the only thing I would have a problem with someone wearing is something that looks like a wedding dress (which that dress does not).

Whenever there are these “can a guest wear white” threads I always think of that one episode of The Nanny where they get married and the pining business partner Cece wears a weddingish dress and tries to walk down the isle with Max (the husband to be)!

I think it would look fine, where did you get that dress? It’s beautiful.

I think it depends on where the wedding is at.  Some places it would be considered a major faux pas and others it would be fine.  In the midwest there are places where ivory isn’t unheard of for guests provided it’s something simplistic.  But in more cosmopolitan areas, I imagine it wouldn’t be regarded as kindly.
