We're having the reception in my grandparents' backyard. They have a HUGE yard and an equally huge pool. There will be plenty of paper lanterns, white christmas lights, etc to decorate the reception area but I was wondering if any of you had any (inexpensive) suggestions about ways to decorate the pool?
I thought about paper luminaries but don't like the idea of the flames, and LED lights are a no go. Floating candles tend to bunch up in one corner of the pool.
And if you're having problems with floating items ending up in one corner of the pool, it may be because the pool filter is on, and turning it off may fix the problem.
You can also keep them from bunching up by anchoring them with washers at the bottom of the pool with a little bit of fishing line. Paint he washers the color of the pool liner and they will blend in.
You could also chang eht color of the pool lights to add another decor item.
I don't remember where I saw it, but a couple had their monogram letters floating in their pool with petals scattered around. It was really pretty and simple, and I'm assuming, cheap.

Night-Light Globes
