- Wedding: October 2011
Okay, so…we’ve been engaged and wedding planning for a while now, really. Both of our immediate families know, but we’ve been waiting to announce to everyone else for the “official” proposal, until we picked a ring and he asked my parents official permission in-person.
Well…the time has come!! (At least, in 16 days!) We’ve been long distance for the past 7 years, so that means exciting things happen in happy little spurts, and it’s almost time for another one. I’m sooo excited, I haven’t seen him in a few months, and this trip I know I’m getting the ring. (It’s picked out, bought, shipped here, and now my mother is holding it hostage for him. Grrrr.)
So, in my anticipation for this very exciting trip, I’ve been trying to figure out creative ways to announce our happy news! Changing our facebook status seems rather…anticlimatic. I have finally figured out what I want to do, though! We’re both huge geeks, and NOTHING we do is traditional…so we figured we’d announce it with a BAM. (Literally.)
I’m an artist, and have decided to create a tri-panel Batman comic.
Panel 1: Robin, surprised “HOLY MATRIMONY, BATMAN!”
Panel 2: Close up of an annoyed, unamused batman.
Panel 3: Me and Fiance comic-ized, me holding out the ring, big “BAM”
Most everyone we’ve told so far have been totally unsurprised. Not unhappy, just kind of a “Duh, of course you’re getting married.” reaction. But that’s a story for another time…
So…share!! How did you announce your happy news?
