The FH and I were not planning on doing any engagement photos as we already have SO MANY photos of ourselves from the past 6 years, and we know we will have our wedding photos by the end of the summer. But, the photographer we have chosen (and love!) offers them as part of our package. So, we guess we will go for it!
What I wonder is: Do any of you Bees have any ideas for creative engagement photo shoot themes/venues/etc?? We are wanting to do something really creative and don’t mind the outrageous! I just can’t seem to think of anything! We know our wedding photos will be beautiful and timeless, so we want to make the engagement photos as crazy/silly as we our!
So if anyone has any suggestions or things that they did in the past…please share!!

I think somewhere special to the couple is always wonderful. I have seen beautiful photos in a couple’s home, or the coffee shop where they had their first date. But your photographer most likely would have fun with this as well, so I recommend asking him/her. Not every couple is adventurous, and I’m sure it’s more fun to shoot those who are!

OKay, that painting one is awesome.
We did a picnic at the beach theme. We brought a picnic basket, a beautiful quilt, a scrabble game, and some other stuff. we took our photos at the lighthouse where my Fiance proposed.
I have seen some that are styled after the couple’s favorite movies, like UP, James Bond, The Notebook (which was amazing), and even disney movies.
I also like ones that have a vintage feel.
I saw a really cute e-session where the couple set up a tent made out of blankets, and also took some pictures with one of those telephones made of can/string… really cute.
I would check stylemepretty.com and oncewed.com for some awesome e-sessions. greenweddingshoes.com also has some good ones.

We’re doing a vintage/retro/50s kind of theme.

Thanks for your ideas Bees! Your engagement photos are great!
@Karissa: I love this!!! What a fun idea. This is the kind of thing that is right up our alley.
@tee22: I have been trying to think of what would be quite special to us in terms of location. My FH is from Ireland, and we now live in my hometown. We spent all of our relationship living abroad pretty much, so my hometown doesn’t have any place that is very special to us since we have only lived here together for 6 months! BUT, we are travellers extraordinaire! We have spent years travelling and backpacking together. Our wedding theme is international culture and travel (ie our tables are themed based on countries we have visited together). So, I was thinking how cool it would be to rent pilot and stewardess outfits and go to our city’s private airfield (where my parents know a few ppl with small planes) and do the photos out there! I don’t know if thats too crazy!!??
What do you ladies think?

We are going to do some of the University where we meet (classroom, library, and outside-the grounds are awesome). Then we are going to Winter Park Ski Area (near our venue) in the summer and going to have the photographer ride the ski lift behind us to take some pictures.

@emersynsmommy35: I live in Knoxville, and we are getting married in Townsend at the Lily Barn. I don’t know if you would have heard of her, but our photographer is Jennie Andrews.
I would love suggestions from you of cool e-photo locales!!

@Stiz: OMG if your getting married in Townsend your right by the Mountains!!! That just SCREAMS photo-ops to me! LoL Especially that stoney river that runs through Gatlinburg or in Smokey Mtns National park! There are water falls and streams that are gorgeous through there! Also around the place in Knoxville (not familiar with names of places) where they held the worlds fair years back? I think that place looks cool! I lived in Murfreesboro for 5 years and there are beautiful places there for pics too
