We added the lyrics to our first dance song. I know I'm always hoping there is something other than just the ceremony in the program because I'm always early and need something to read.
Trivia about you guys as a couple could be fun. You could ask the questions on one page and put the answers upside down on the back page like they do in magazines and on cereal boxes. :-)
The story of how you met is always fun since there is usually friends of parents or someone there who hasn't heard the whole story.
It is also really good to put explinations in the program of anything "unusual" that will be in the ceremony. For instance we did a handfasting and a bunch of people told me they really enjoyed reading some background on it in the program while they were waiting for the ceremony to start.
It also depends a lot on what your "theme" for your wedding is. If it's casual you could do a playbill like from a broadway play. Or a stats sheet like at the baseball game.
Those are the ideas right off the top of my head. If you want to give us more info about your theme then we might have more specific ideas.
Good luck!
When is your ceremony? Mine was this past Saturday and there was no air in the church, so I should have made mine into fans! Finding a creative layout like that would add a fun element.
Party bios/photos would be a fun idea for the programs. It depends on how involved you want to get. I know some people include the readings and song lyrics on their programs, and I have heard of including how you met and other relevant stories. You could also include the schedule and maps for the rest of the day.
We had a wedding logo (girl and boy on a bicycle) for our event that we carried through the invites/stamps/favors, so we incorporated it onto the program as well, and I also included a poem by Nash that spoke to our relationship and the time of year.
Good ideas!
Our wedding is more formal, but that doesn't mean I am not open to having fun and being creative. It's also toward the end of September so it will likely be in the 60s and outside.
For the fun of it, I designed a simple crossword to keep people busy while they waited. It was simple to design. I used photoshop but I'm sure anyone can do it in Word.

sorry about the jargon
try this
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 11px; white-space: pre; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px">http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/8454/crosswordfr3.jpg
we're going to be adding poetry in a couple of different languages
We are adding a Venn Diagram to show the symbolisim of two people joining together, but still keeping their own identity. It is an agnostic wedding with the focus on us rather than God. We will also put song lyrics in the program.

I am thinking about adding bridal party bios to our ceremony programs. Any other ideas on how to be creative/interesting with programs?
