Background: We’re getting married (ceremony & reception) at an Aquarium, because we both LOVE sea animals and the place is SO beautiful!! We wanted to “name” each table after a different animal.
As our Favors… we are making a Donation to the wwf.org (World Wildlife Fund).
Please keep in mind that we have LESS then 1 month until our wedding!!
Option #1: I had already purchased a bunch of foam stickers of sea animals (which include… octopus, lobster, starfish, turtle, shark, dolphin, frog, penguin and seal) to use on the escort cards/table number cards. We use them and make a general donation to the wwf.org
Option #2: We take more time and possibly money to find more “deserving” animals and make each table an “adoption” for the wwf.org . (ie. if you’re sitting at table “Manatee” then we will “adopt” a Mantee in your honor through the wwf)
Also, try to think of the guests… are they even really going to notice all of our efforts??

I like option two. It makes it more personal. I also love seeing brides shy away from the normal ballroom receptions.

I like the second option as well, that way guests can see who is benefiting. Are you able to add a little blurb about the animal as well?

i like option 2. your wedding sounds amazing! i think it would be worth the time to make it more personalized towards specific animals. how great!

I like option 2 – it would mean WAY more to me if I knew the animal my donation was helping!

I love option 2! I think its great that your doing that? Can I ask…how does it work when people make donations? Do you just ask them or do you as the couple donate the money? My friend wanted to do that for breast cancer and I just didn’t know how it worked.

jingle96 – we’re donating the money through their website. We have the option to make a general donation, or you can adopt certain animals with donations anywhere from $25-$200. We’re probably looking to make a total donation of about $300-$400. My FMIL is also contributing $100 towards our total donation.

I think either option would work, but I like the personalization that the second option offers. That way, the people at the table would know exactly where the donation was going and would learn a little more about their particular animal. Very cool idea!

Option #2! As long as it’s not too expensive to adopt a bunch of creatures 🙂

I like either option, but I like #2 the best if it’s not terribly expensive like Bruschetta says.

I voted for option 1. When you support a charity, they need all kinds of money, not just for certain animals. I love the idea of the aquarium reception and wwf donation and I think that’s thoughtful enough.

I like the odea of #2, I would notice either one and appreciate it but think that the second option makes it a little more personal 🙂 Good luck and congrats!

I like the idea of #2 that you can put some information about each animal on the card. Gives people something to look at.
But I think if you are going to general animals, why not make it cards about endagered animals/species? That way you don’t have to worry about the cost of adopting individual animals, but you can still give your guests something to look at that will teach them about something unique.

If you go with option #2, will your guests be able to see a picture of the animal you adopt for them? I’m just curious on how this works.
Oh and props to you for being so creative!

I love this and cant wait to see pictures!!!!
I love option 2… that being said, if push comes to shove and you dont have the time for the extra effort that will require, go with option 1 – no regrets.
