I really want to display black and white pictures of my fiance and I but can't think of any creative ways to pull this off. Have any of you had any experience with this?
When I was a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding, she had something similar. They got everyone's wedding picture: parents, grandparents, and siblings, in black and white and made them all 8x10's, and then put them all in silver frames, she had them on the escort card and guest book tables. Now they have them all displayed on their shelves at home.
I recently went to a wedding where the bride and groom had a poster collage printed professionally (sort of a 3' x 5' banner positioned portrait-style) hanging near the entrance of the reception. It was really very nice.
Depending on the style and formality of your wedding you could string twine along the walls or windows and hang the pictures from clothes pins or use ribbon and a nicer form of clip if you wedding is more formal.
If you're using ribbon, you could also anchor them from the ceiling and attach the pictures to the ribbon so they hang down.
That's all the ideas I've got at the moment, but I'll let you know if I think of anything else.
You can somehow use them as table numbers, or a create a program booklet, or consider creating a table menu, It's not creative, but you can have a photo guestbook...i.e. make a photo book with the photo and have people sign around them.
If you want something informal, you can have them displayed on a memory board (a pretty bulletin board) and use ribbon to hold them down. You could also include other things like love letters or postcards of places you have been together, dried flowers, tickets to a concert you went to together. You can put the board by the guest book so people will remember (hopefully) to sign while they are looking at it. You could also go hi-tech and have the photos play on a TV or computer. Our venue has a flat screen in the bar area, so I am going to check with them to see if it will accomodate a photo slideshow from either a DVD or an iPod.
I did what LeahB said. We picked a couple of nice shots from our engagement session, had them framed and displayed them on the escort card table and the favor table.
We also framed wedding pictures from both of our parents, and did a little table tent describing who they were and their wedding dates. Everyone commented that it added a very personal touch to the wedding.
Lastly, we blew one up poster-sized and had it on an easel on the way out near the favor table with text thanking our guests for attending and that their valet parking fees and tip were compliments of the happy bride and groom.
This may be really cheezy (I don't care) I'm doing some slide shows during key dances. The First Dance, Daddy Daughter Dance... if FH wants to help Mom Son dance. I also like the "Lost in this Moment" song so I'm thinking of doing a slide show of friends and family's wedding pictures so all the "couples" that are dancing during that song will see pictures of their wedding.
Our venue has a wonderful fireplace in the foyer. I am taking pictures of us growing up, mounting them on large patterned tags and creating a garland to hang from the mantel. Each side will start with us a babies and progress to a current picture of us together in the center. We don't have a lot of pictures of either of us growing up so this seemed like like a nice way to show our past and our present as we move into the future.
