My FI and I are not big fans of cake. How would you feel about getting an individual serving of creme brulee with fresh berries instead of cake?

I love crème brûlée, I say yes!  But no to the berries...I don't understand the desire to dress this dessert up with fruit - there is no need!!!

One of my favorites!! I love this idea. It changes things up a bit from the cake or cupcakes!

As I mentioned on your blog, this really does sound delish but would you consider serving an alternative dessert for the guests that may have milk allergies / lactose intolerance? If you are providing other desserts then forget about my question. If not, I would suggest thinking about it otherwise these guests can't enjoy what everyone else is enjoying.

EDIT: just in case I wasn't clear I mean to provide an additional dessert to the creme brulee.

I like creme brulee, but i know lots of people who don't. Custards and alcohol don't really mix for me, so I might be tempted to not eat it if I know i'm having a few glasses of wine.

I'd offer a choice of desserts and let guests pick between the two. We offered 3 choices in cake and it went over really well. If you want to do cheap cake (simply b/c most people like cake), we had sheet cakes from sams that each fed 50 people for $17 apiece. What about a mini fruit tart? I could get on board with that. =]

That would be awesome, but I agree that you would need at least 1 or 2 other options for people who don't want creme brulee.  That way everyone will be able to enjoy dessert and not miss out since there won't be a cake. But like ejs said, you could always get some sheet cakes for the people who do like cake

Thanks for the advice I think having a few other deserts is a good idea. Chocolate covered strawberries come to mind right now.

we were at a wedding this summer where they served creme brule after we all finished dinner.  It was such a hit.  They had a cake as well, but the creme brule was definitely the biggest hit of the desserts!  I'd go for it!

Maybe you could have a creme brulee bar with another option ... like brownies or cookies ... whatever fits you and your budget/theme. I know I couldn't have it b/c I'm allergic to dairy. Which will be hell the next time I am around creme brulee b/c I do love it .... =(

I LOVE creme brulee.  It's definitey my favorite dessert to make (and eat!) But, I know a lot of people who don't.  I think people either love it or hate it.  Some people just aren't fans of custards or might be lactose intolerant.

I think it's a great idea, but you might want to consider something to serve along side it as an alternative.

    I love Creme Brule.

I understand that people like to have choice, but in the UK it is pretty standard that you will just have one choice of desert. People cope with it and if they have intolerances to dairy, they can eat your sumptuous berries. You can never satisfy 100% of people there.

I'm obsessed with creme brulee and if you have it I'm crashing your wedding. How many people are you having? I'm thinking it might be a bit risky to do with a TON of people. Although, I'm not in the catering business so I really have no idea lol.

I am having about 120 people. I have to talk to the caterer about the logistics. I would be willing to buy the ceramic dishes myself to make it happen. I do realize not everyone will enjoy creme brulee, so I am thinking about having a desert tray with a few creme brulees, chocolate covered strawberries, and maybe a cheese cake for each table. I do not think I have any guests what are lactose intolerant, but if I do I will have an option for them as well. I do like MsHymanRoth idea of a creme brulee bar. I guess I have to talk to my caterer to see if any of this is possible.

I love the idea of dessert trays being passed around with creme brulee, chocolate covered strawberrries & cake.... Mmm. I may steal this idea. Not everyone is a fan of creme brulee (crazy, I know!)

I'm actually serving Vanilla bean creme brulee as a dessert option at my wedding because of the posts on WB.

I think it's a great idea, even though I'm not really the biggest fan of Creme Brulee. (I like looking at it, just not really eating it. I just eat the sugar off the top and then get bored).

loooove this idea.  I've never had good wedding cake so this would make me so excited.  your other options sound delicious too.  Although you can't worry about everyone's allergies and preferences.  PS: people with lactose allergies won't eat cake either as it usually has dairy in the ingredients anyways.

I am actually not a fan of creme brulee! The texture just gags me, but if you like it I say go for it and maybe offer another alternative for people who may not like it or have allergies.
