I was told about this great idea at pilates. Apparently at a wedding my instructor attended, they had a creme brulee bar. With toppings etc and they torched the creme brulee after you add toppings!!!

That sounds fabulous.  You'll have to let us know how it goes over, if you do it.

that sounds delicious, but people either love or hate creme brulee. It's not something most people love love love.

What about bananas fosters? They can light it on fire in the skillet! And freakin' everybody loves bananas fosters. Hot, gooey, amaretto-ey, ice cream. omg i'm salivating

HAHA. You crack me up. Good thing you eat tofu and other healthy stuff or all you'd eat is junk food and you'd force yourself into being a diabetic!

Seriously, a flambe bananas foster bar would be INSANE. Oh man I wish I'd done this now. Although only my dad and I would have been game cuz in St Louis it's not common.

Shoot, my DH's family never even had tiramisu until i brought it over. I don't think they're ready for the intensity of flambed bananas foster

Why don't they make bananas foster ice cream bars in low fat? mmmmm

Wait ... there's a bananas foster ice cream BAR? Like a frozen fudge ice cream bar but bananas foster? Surprised

Can you imagine if we went out to eat together? I think our order would be soo insane.

I've never had creme brulee but it sounds good. Is it similar to flan?

The french toast sounds yummy too as do the flambe desserts. I'm not personally a fan of banana anything but pineapples foster (subsititute the pineapples for the bananas) is good. Never seen it in person but I saw pictures on another site awhile back of cherries jubilee that was made at the reception site for dessert. That would be good too. Another option is to let guests pick which fruit they want.

Yes. I think we'd both be RIDICULOUS. I don't dig chocolate much but I'm a sucker for the intense, dramatic, over the top sweets.

If anybody works for Breyers, hop to it and make us some bananas fosters bars....with some amaretto liquor creamy filling. MMMMMMM.

Creme Brulee is KINDA like flan. Less jello-y, jiggly, more like a custard. With a crunchy carmelized sugar crust. It's good, but it's eggy and thick and not everyone really likes custard. I, however, think it is fabuloso.

@KateMW, is that like cake porn for you bakers? To have somebody else make it for you? lol

A mix and match frosting/filling bar. That sounds good. There's a bakery here in STL called Jilly's Cupcake bar and I had a miami beach thing or whatever....Vanilla mango cupcake with lemon curd and mango cream cheese. Holy wowza

As a bit of a purist I am not feeling this idea.  Crème brulée should not come with toppings.  The crispy brown layer of burned custard on top is the topping.  I don't understand why you would try to improve up on perfection by adding toppings?   Now a crêpe bar I could see.  When is come to crêpes, toppings are more than welcome!

Every time I've gotten Creme Brulee it has been topped with fresh fruit. like a few fresh raspberries. Then again, I see you are from Paris so I can see how your POV comes into play...

...is it bad that I want this bananas fosters stuff for breakfast? And I'm bummed I didn't do one at my wedding, even tho nobody woulda eaten it? Mmmmm. What an idea, MsHymanRoth! Seriosly I cann't wait to see your wedding pics. Everything you're planning just sounds amazing and fancy! I think you'll be quite the platinum bride =]

I can make a mean creme brulee, but it is love/hate thing with some people ya know?

As for me, I am probably going to opt for wedding cake/cupcakes, grooms cake (2 choices of kinds of cakes for them for dessert) and maybe gelato on the side.  I saw a gelato bar where the tubs of the ice cream lookalike were in ice in kind of a sculpture and I like that idea!

3 kinds.  Peach (nod to my state), vanilla and chocolate!

@ejs4y8 - really?  I guess it's an American adaptation to the recipe.  I have never seen toppings on crème brulée here...

Wow, soooo delicious.  My sister and her husband had an ice cream and flambeed fruit bar, so you could have both alongside a slice of wedding cake!

OMG i wish our venue would have let us bring in an outside vendor! WOW! I"m sure they woulda said no to fire in their 1850's home, though. Yiiikes. Now i wanna go out for dinner...fancy dinner! Yum.

I've never seen anything on creme brulee either. I hate it though. I rather have the custard part with no sugar part.

Oh and a make your own cupcake bar is born for cupcake lovers. ;)

Make your own cupcake bar sounds insane. Well I've actually never had creme brulee with any toppings ... I've seen all different kinds though .. never tried it.

Now cheesecake .. I get it with fresh berries and cream! Mmmm...

I really think I'm going to blow the desserts out. It's going to be pure insanity. Really it's the one time in my life that I can whatever I want for me ... just purely based on what my own tastes are. Ahh ..

Get ready to drool more: Speaking of Bananas Foster, there's also cherries jubilee- and when I googled it, there are different versions such as:

Mangos Diablo (mangos flambeed in tequila) and Peches Louis (peaches flamed in whiskey).

I just wiped a tear from my eye... what a delicious & wonderful idea!

Mmmmm... I lived in Montreal for a few years & you could just go to the markets and pick up the most delicious vanilla creme brulee. I need it. I want it. It's been so long... yum!

I'm TOTALLY adding creme brulee to my menu!

I like this idea for the 2-for-1 aspect of it: entertainment + food = guests' amusement. Personally, I'm big supporter of dessert bars... had one at the wedding.
