I wouldn't know... any time I have tried using them, they make my teeth ache and I have to stop using them!
I used them back when I was going to prom lol. And yes, they did work :)
White strips make my gums hurt sooooo bad :( ...They did work though
I used them and loved them! My dentist even commented on how I wouldn't need any in-office whitening appointments because the color turned out so nicely.
I love them and they work great. The bleach from the dentist is so strong it was eating my gums away. Anyway, wait a couple weeks then use them and you'll be good for your wedding day.
@bunnees: Same here! My dentist continually raves on how nice my teeth look.
I use them twice a year and have been doing so for about three years now. While they do make your teeth a bit sensitive (which goes away) it is well worth it. I also use the Listerine whitening mouth wash twice daily to keep away daily stains. So far so good. :)
they rock! FI (now husband) and i split a box of the advanced ones and used them daily for 3-4 weeks before the wedding and our teeth whitened right up.
they are still pretty white and i havent used a strip since 8/5.
definitely recommend using them. like pp's said, be careful with your gums - dont let the strip cover your gums or they might get irritated.
they worked pretty good for me. I used them for the wedding.
Yes, they totally work! I've never even tried the advanced ones, only the basic ones. I'm sure they're even better.
Your teeth will still be whiter than they are now in October. You could use a whitening toothpaste though to keep them a bit whiter for longer.
Thanks for all your input everyone, I'm super excited to use them!!
I love them! Totally worth it. My FI uses the Gentle ones because he has sensitive teeth and they work well too. They don't whiten as fast as the 3D Advanced do, but they still work well.
I actually cut the strips to better fit my teeth. That way the excess doesn't touch my gums or wrap around the underside of my teeth. Less sensitivity that way.
I used mine for less than half as long {day-wise} as the box recommended. My teeth went from really yellow (i mean baaad) to a normal shade of white. They probably could have been suuuper white if I used them for another week.
I did the $80 box, and split it with DH. It made a huge difference and didn't seem to hurt as much as the cheaper ones. They do work though!
I've used them. they did work, but made my teeth super sensitive for a while, so I stopped.
Oh! I also bought a toothpaste that was Sensative with Whitening, and I used it during and a little after the time when I whitened.Idk what brand it was... maybe Crest, too. It tastes awful, but it kept my teeth and gums from hurting or becoming sensative.
I read all kinds of awful things about your teeth hurting, but either my teeth are strong, or the toothpaste helped. :) Make sure you don't drink brown beverages!
Between the strips, cheaper 5 Minute White, and Vivid White tooth paste, my red wine stained teeth went from dull to WOW in like 15 days. It was well worth it. I use the daily whitening Crest strips (the cheapest ones) for maintanence in the car on my way to work whenever I think about it.
Sensodyne toothpaste helps with the sensitivity too
They work but your teeth become WAY too sensitive! I used them for my engagement pictures and ahd to rechedule the pics because my teeth were so sensitive, I couldn't smile! I had to pay money to get a fluoride treatment at the dentist office.
I have not used them, but my dentist said that if you do you should use some kind of sensitive toothpaste two weeks BEFORE and two weeks AFTER using them.
They're uncomfortable to use, but I had great success with them.
I'm using the Gentle Routine ones now..have been for about a week. Supposedly they are good for sensitivity as you only keep them on 5 mins (which is also good bc i fnd them insanely uncomfortable.) I think they look a little whiter already!
They make my teeth super sensitive, but I'm a superficial girl so I just put up with it to have pearly whites =D. I get lots of compliments on my teeth, EVEN from my dentist!!
They worked very well for me and I never had issues with sensativity.
I've used them once and I was surprised by how well they worked - I plan to use them again soon. I didn't encounter any pain or sensitivity, thankfully :)
I experience a little sensitivity to the strips, but just make sure to use Sensodyne to counteract the irritabililty. Also make sure to follow the directions. For example, you arent supposed to use the strips on clean teeth.
They work amazing for me, but they make my teeth really sensitive while I am using them, goes away in a couple days after they're done though. I would probably do them in September.
I want to try them, but I'm worried. One of my front teeth is about 1/3 to 1/2 artificial after a fall when I was a kid (I didn't tie my shoes and did a faceplant on concrete). Will it make it too obvious that part of my tooth is fake?
Just started our regimen yesterday! We bought the professional effects one that is a 20-day treatment and our wedding is in 29 days. I already noticed my teeth getting sensitive after just 2 times. I hate that part. I think I'll go get some Sensodyne.
I used them before my wedding. They worked wonders! I also used Listerine whitening mouth wash and Crest whitening toothpaste.
I work for a dentist and I get asked about bleaching everyday! The crest white strips will work! They can/will make your teeth sensitive & I always recommend using Sensodyne toothpaste for about 7-10 days prior to bleaching & continue with it throughout/after you are done bleaching to help with sensitivity. Bleaching will not harm your teeth and any sensitivity you experience will go away! You can get professional strength whitestrips (if your dentist sells them) that are much stronger than over the counter ones for even better results. Results vary from person to person depending on habits= if you smoke, drink a lot of coffee, tea, red wine ect, results won't last as long & you will need to touch up more often.
@kristophine: Bleaching will not change the shade of your composite (tooth colored filling). It really depends on how well it matches now & how many shades you want to come up. Since bleaching is a gradual process you can try it for a few days to see if it makes it stand out, sometimes people can bleach up a little without making it very noticeable. You will not go up 10 shades overnight so if you feel you have reached your desired shade or it starts to become noticeable just stop bleaching. If you really want to come up several shades (drastic change) you can bleach until you are happy and then have the restoration replace to match your new shade.
I've used them before, and they worked wonderfully. I've since bought a Groupon for professional whitening, so I'll use that before the wedding, but I've had great results with White Strips. As others have said, though, I've had a lot of sensitivity - be aware of that and be ready for it.
I used the 3D Crest version in combination with the 3D Crest mouthwash and a 3D toothpaste. My tea-stained teeth were looking fab!
My mom has used the 3D white strips with great results! I agree with PP, start using Sensodyne if you have sensitive teeth, or notice any sensitivity.
Give it a shot, there really isn't any harm in trying!
Whitening strips have [temporarily] discolored my gums a little in the past, so I would probably test them out to make sure this doesn't happen to you, and if it does, just stop using them like a week before the wedding or so! =)
I like the white strips better than I like my bleaching trays from the dentist. They both make my teeth sensitive but not unbearable.

I just picked up a box of the "advanced" version today after my dentist telling me his whitening kit is $300. I'll try the $35 verson first, thanks.
Has anyone used it before? What were your results?
I'm also wondering when I should use it.. my wedding is in 8 weeks. If I start it this week, will I still have pearly whites in October?
