For some reason, I’m finding choosing a crib mattress to be super overwhelming.
What’s better, foam vs. coil? Does it need to be organic?
The Baby Bargins book scared me a bit talking about gases/chemicals in the mattresses… is that just hype or a real concern??
The Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer mattress sounds like a good, safe option; however it’s $186 – more than the Graco crib we purchased!
The Sealy Soybean Foam-Core mattress sounds decent, but it has polyurethane… should that be a concern?!
What mattress did you buy for you LO? Do you like it?

I read a few articles before buying and the biggest difference I seemed to find was that foam is much lighter than coil. I went for foam for this reason in regards to the mattress being lighter since I will be changing it an awful lot. Also while we might want a softer a mattress the harder the better for babies. They are not supposed to be able to leave a head/body indentation in the mattress because it could possibly cause the baby’s head not to shape or form properly. With that info I just went to Babies R Us and tried out a couple. Some that I thought I would love were way too soft (my hand sung into the mattress with only a light touch). I ended up buying the Baby Cache mattress at Babies R Us.

@roxy821: Thanks for your input! I went to Babies R Us to feel the mattresses, but they didn’t have that one you suggested in stock for me to try, unfortunately. I ended up going with the Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer mattress since I found it online for $150 w/ free shipping. Hopefully I like it when it comes! Crazy that the mattress was more expensive that the crib (Graco Lauren)!
