Hey ladies! I posted this on the main Beehive board but thought I'd post it here as well!

Do you think I could die cut a shape like this: http://www.stylemepretty.com/gallery/photo/martha-andrews+14508

...on my own 8.5 x 5.5 invitations (that's the same size as the invite featured above)

...using the Cricut Create and Accent Essentials (there's a little tiny shape that's what I'm looking for on this cartridge). Check out the shape here, on the bottom row, third from right: http://www.cricut.com/shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?id=147

Has anyone else used this shape on this cartridge?

Let me know your thoughts! I've never used a cricut before (just got it off Craigslist and JUST bought my Accent Essentials cartridge off ebay), so I have no idea how one works and whether I could do this sort of project successfully!

    Thanks hive!!!

Absolutely you would be able to, just depends on the cricut machine that you bought.  With the accent essintials cartridge, it cuts the image only as large as the width of your mat (so if you have the large cricut, you could cut it 8.5), if you only have the small cricut you could do it if you have the cricut with blue on the sides of it (ie not the personal cutter) then select the image, and cut it on landscape setting.  Hope it works out for you... my cricut has been my wedding dream!

Oh cool, thanks for the tips! I have the small cricut with the blue on the sides, the Cricut Create, so looks like this will work!  I can't WAIT to finish reading thru the user manual so I can get started! Thanks again!!! :)

Yes you can!  The little cricut - even tho it's 6 x 12" will really only cut 5.5 x 11.5 (it doesn't cut about 1/4 inch around the mat) so i think your 8.5 x5.5 will fit perfectly

check out this tutorial/video for how to get the placement just right (i wish i had seen this before my wedding....would have saved me so much wasted paper!)

I saw in one of your posts gypsy vs SCAL?  gypsy will let you design what you like with the cartridges you OWN (meaning you need to still buy them)  i haven't used it yet, but some people love it, and some hate it!  I have SCAL and love it....actually I haven't bought any cartridges yet cuz it lets you use any SVG files or true type fonts, so i used it to personalize all my wedding stationary w/ chinese characters!) and you don't need cartridges.  It all depends how computer savy/creative you are....if you rather have designs premade, then gypsy may be the way to go, if you like to play w/ digital designs or need more personalized stuff, than my vote is for SCAL!
