I’m trying to decide if my dress needs a crinoline for more poof, or do you think it’s poofy enough? Anyone have a huge dress and have any recommendations?
I’m also thinking it may need something extra, like a beaded sash. I think I’m in my own head too much and I could really use a second (or third or fourth! etc) opinion
I’d love to know what you think! Please help!
Here’s me at my 1st fitting:
And here’s the dress on the model:

I say crinolin (but I loooove poof!) and I think that your dress would dress would look gorg with an awesome statement/sparkly necklace! (sometimes I feel like sparkly belts are getting to be overdone. Even though I’m wearing one:p)
so I guess, take my opinions with a grain of salt;)

I think a sash would look odd with this dress, and mess with the lines of the skirt. The dropped waist just isn’t dropped enough.
Do you have a crinoline on at the fitting or not? If not, I think it looks great as is. But, it’s your day…if you want big poof, go for it!

The picture of you in the dress is without the crinoline, right? It would be really helpful if we could see YOU with a crinoline too – dresses always look completely different on models for some reason.
I think your dress is lovely as it is but if you really love poof, go for it! It would look great either way.

Thanks ladies! The photo of me is WITHOUT a crinoline…I have to find one online if I decide to buy one. So as you can see, it’s pretty poofy without one (I think there are 7 or 8 layers of tulle!)
But here is a similar dress with what looks like a crinoline added for volume (and a sash):

Oh gosh I LOVE that! I say go ahead with the poof! 😀
Oh, how tall are you, btw? I remember reading somewhere that very poofy dresses made short women look shorter so maybe if you’re a little midget like me (lol) you should maybe skip the crinoline?
EDT: I’m not in love with the sash though, your dress has such a pretty waist, too pretty to be cut and/or covered by a sash.

@MissGemini: I love how your dress looks in your pics above so if that if that is without I say you don’t need it….plus the more extra layers will make it prob pretty hot and sweaty under there! The dress looks like it has enough poof to me!
I def say skip the sash due to the trasition to the skirt into the V shape I think adding a sash would really make you look choppy and cut in half…..the dress flows beautifully without a sash. If you want to do something extra maybe add some bling at the neckline of the bodice or maybe do a nice bold statement necklace!

@LivingInPink99: I like a lot of poof too 😉 I just worry it may be over the top, you know? I guess I won’t really know until I try one on. I did when I first bought this dress and it just made a slight difference.
I’m actually wearing the necklace I plan on wearing to the wedding in the photo…I thought it was pretty flashy, but maybe it’s not enough?

@MsMeow: I was worried about the same thing with the sash, it may cut at a weird spot.
I’m 5’5…I don’t THINK I’m drowning in the dress…hopefully ppl agree 🙂
Plus I’m wearing these crazy high badboys:

The extra poof is now officially winning! Maybe I start searching eBay for a good deal on one…

@MissGemini: I think it’s pretty poufy right now. How much more would the crinoline add? Just to bottom or added fullness throughout? Try the crinoline, take a pic and repost the “with” and “without.” It’d be easier to judge if we had an idea of what the crinoline added.
I’m a poufy kind of gal but if it take away from you or distorts the dress’ silhouette, I’d vote no.

I’m for no crinoline, I think your dress looks perfect as is!

I don’t like too much poof, so I’d vote no personally, but if you want some added drama, I say go for it! 🙂 You could always have it for the ceremony and photos and remove for the reception (so you can dance!)
@MissGemini: No to more poof. Yes to a sash!

🙂 I dug up this photo from when I 1st bought the dress WITH crinoline and without so it’s easier to see the difference:
@FreckledFox: I like the idea of having it for the ceremony and photos and maybe removing it for the reception so it’s easier to dance!
