A crinoline has layers of tulle to make the dress poofy. A hoop skirt actually has a few hoops in it to make the dress sit wider. I had a crinoline on mine because I was afraid the hoop skirt would be too southern belle. I think it really depends on the shape of the dress what looks best.
Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. I've worn both a crinoline and a hoop skirt on different ocassions, the crinoline is definitely more comfortable, hoops skirts tend to feel strange to me because there's basically no fabric of the dress near your legs, it creates a sort of tent like feel. At least when I wore one that's what it was like. Sort of threw me off a little bit. I'd go for a crinoline if you have a choice. It's easier to sit in as well!
It really depends on the cut of your dress and when you're getting married. If you were getting married in the summer and wanted a super-full look, I'd say go with the hoop skirt because it will keep you much MUCH cooler. But a december wedding in Seattle? go for the crinoline.
I'll be rockin' a hoop.
Wedding is at the end of July, so i'm hoping having everthing away from my body will keep me cool. That's my grown-up Christmas wish at least :)

Hi Bees!
I have a really silly question, but I don't know much about this stuff! Is there a difference between a crinoline and a hoop skirt? If so, what is the difference? Is one better than the other?
Thanks!
