My fiance is Croatian! It truly is the most beautiful place I have ever been!!! I think that it is a great honeymoon destination - you should really enjoy it. I would be happy to give you some of my own tips and suggestions and then I can have my finace give you some insider tips as well... I went with a good friend to Dubrovnik a couple of years ago.  Very nice trip, and a very romantic place.  We stayed at the Hilton just outside the city walls, which I highly recommend.  It's a VERY short walk to the walled city, and the rooms were very nice. One of the most interesting things we did was to hire a car to take us to Bosnia for the day.  The difference in the impact of the war on the two places is incredibly interesting.  Croatia, with it's tourism and many buildings listed as historical sites shows very few effects of the war, while Bosnia still had many many buildings that hadn't been touched since they'd been bombed.  We also hired a Croatian driver, who was very friendly and gave us his perspective on the war, which was interesting when you knew how a Bosnian would describe it.  He also pointed out the "second largest tree in Croatia," which stil cracks me up.  Visting the islands around Dubrovnik was a lot of fun as well.
