The best thing I ever did when I went on both cruises is straight to a travel agent….She did EVERYTHING for us!  She got us a package deal fir flights and the cruise and we didn’t have to spend hours on the internet searching for deals.

If you already know what cruise you want to book and the cabin category you can get a good discount by going to cruisecompete.com. They shop your request to different travel agents. Sometimes you can get a great deal. Other times you can find the best price online on your own.

If you are just starting to search, my favorite site for browsing is vacationstogo.com. Their prices are good, but more importantly, their “custom search” feature is the best I’ve used. You do have to register with them, though.

As for general cruise information, cruisecritic.com is awesome. Their message boards are phenomenal.

we used a travel agent. they weren’t able to give us any money off on the cruise, but they gave us $240 onboard credit which went a long way! my husband and i aren’t drinkers so we didn’t spend it on drinks (like it seemed the rest of the cruisers would have done) we were able to eat at some specialty restaurants, do some shopping, rented a movie when i didn’t feel well, we were actually struggling to spend all of our money!
