@LoggerHead91207:  Hi! I actually live really close to Season’s, too, so it sounds like we’re neighbors! I haven’t been to a wedding there, but I do know that they have minimums – when I inquired, it was 150+ for Saturday, 125 for Fri/Sun. We only had 80 at our wedding, so I had to cross it off the list early.

It is beautiful there, though!

Welcome to the world of minimums!  I too only have 70 Adults for wedding.  For a Saturday wedding, the minimums will just kill you. Let me know if you find a place.  I’m on the lookout too.  Our backup plan is the Inn at Middletown, nice food but I guess I want taller ceilings.

@LoggerHead91207:  We went with Avon Old Farms Hotel in Avon, CT. Had the ceremony on-site. I cannot recommed it enough! Yes, it’s a bit of a drive from Wallingford (about 40-45 minutes) but it’s absolutely beautiful there in the fall. There is a great outdoor ceremony space, and a fantastic 3 level indoor lobby space in case of rain. The reception room is perfect for ~80 people, and it even has a really cool 3 season room with exposed brick and hanging light fixtures for cocktail hour. There’s also a fire pit and patio area if your guests want to go outside during dinner.

There is only one wedding at a time, so you really have the run of the place. The venue coordinator Gail was great. And the prices are very reasonable for what you get – the packages include EVERYTHING, including a cake. We also had the honeymoon suite for our wedding night, and breakfast the next day. They treated us like royalty.

@LoggerHead91207:  I hear you. I looked at the Burr Homestead also, and I was turned off by the amount of ‘work’ needed. Setup, breakdown, etc. I wanted to show up and get married!

One place I’d suggest chatting with is the Silvermine Tavern in Norwalk. I don’t know exactly how many guests you are having, but it’s beautiful for a smaller wedding (hello, waterfall out back!). Ultimately it was too far for many of our guests, so we went up north, but I would at least check it out. Very reasonable prices, too.

@LoggerHead91207:  we also looked at Burr Family Homestead but decided it would be too much work. If you’re looking at that, have you checked out these places?

-Lockwood-Matthews Mansion in Norwalk

-Waveny House in New Canaan

-Meadowlands in Darien

there are also a few places in Ridgefield?

(sorry about weird spacing, typing from my phone!)

@LoggerHead91207:  Happy to help! 🙂 We ended up ruling out having a mansion wedding because our wedding was too big (we ended up being 140) and I wanted to have everyone in the same room for dinner & dancing, not spread out. We also ended up choosing a venue where we didn’t have to do that much extra work. But your wedding seems like a great size!

Agreed on Waveny, it’s gorgeous but not sure how competitive it is to get slots 1 year in advance and it’s tough to hold everything if you’re not sure whether or not you get your date!

The Lockwood rotunda was in the movie Stepford Wives, which just strikes me as funny… but it is beautiful too.

If you’re willing to put in the work for a mansion wedding, I thought of one more option! The Gallagher Mansion at Cranbury Park (it’s in Norwalk, on the Wilton border, easily accesible from the Merrit or 95). http://gallahermansion.com/rates/
I do have to say, I know about the place because it has a disc golf course (frolf!) and an ex of mine was obsessed. That being said, the grounds are very pretty. I had a friend who did their engagement photos there.

Based on your location, I’m assuming Ridgefield and Danbury further than what you’re looking for?

LoggerHead91207:  Did you end up finding a venue in the Fairfield/New Haven area?
